RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.
-SoulRiser

Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.

Cory Wrote:What is the meaning to life?
You can spend your entire life wondering what the answer is, but in reality, I doubt there is one. Life is just life, you're born, you live for a certain amount of years, and then you die. Nothing special, true you may do something special with your lives, but in the end, nobody will care. You might get put into the history books, or remain in the minds of those around you, but memory fades, and books detiriorate. If anything, the meaning of life is death, don't ask how I came up with this, I came up with it years ago and I don't remember how I did.

I need a 'significant event' in my life. (It doesn't have to have actually happened, I just need help making something up because I never do anything important enough to write about.)

Divide = flip one after divide sign, then make it a multiply sign.
the + and - is correct, but multiply ain't.
for multiply you just multiply the denominator by the denominator and the numerator by the numerator
Eg.
(btw, that's an equals sign)

Re: The Homework Help Thread
So for my Latin investigation I need a topic I can relate to a more recent period in history. I was wondering if anyone knew of anything I could relate to the '35-'45 holocaust?

An hour and a half. It takes her 1 hour to run 4 miles, so it takes her 30 minutes to run 2 miles. 4+2=6, and 1 hour + 30 minutes equals an hour and a half, that's the answer.
[extra]Four miles per hour is a fration, 4 miles over 1 hour, or 4 over 60 if we were doing minutes instead of hours. So that's why you can do 2 over 30 or 1 over 15, since it's still equal to 4 over 60.[/extra]
