RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

*Takes deep breath* K, here goes...

I hate school. I hate almost everything about it. I hate having 4 hours of sleep every night due to stress. I hate my idiotic teacher who yells at us whenever we're being "rude", despite the fact he's spitting all over my face when I try to do my pointless work. I hate the fact that those...those "educators" choose how smart we are and dominate our lifes. I hate that if you don't go to the hellhole, you get arrested. I hate the fact that my class is full of inconsiderate jerks who have made my life a living hell. I hate the stupid Censored rules that tell us "If someone punches you in the face, ignore it." I hate the fact that we learn practically nothing in maths class due to the teacher thinking everyone's an idiot, and throws P1 work at us. I hate the fact that we get 10 minutes at break, and only 20 at lunch (Bit of an exaggeration, i'll admit.). I hate that if a teacher finds a mobile phone, they take it away without question, ignoring the fact that the kid is giving good reasons why he SHOULD be aloud to have it, as if he doesn't have a voice, or an opinion, or a life...

But you want to know what I hate most of all? I'll tell ya: I hate the fact that so many have been brainwashed. So many think they have an education. Oh, they have an education alright: An education that tells us to obey and to never question someone bigger than you.

not really much to discuss, (because it's all true) except maybe for the math thing. the reason you learn so slowly is not because EVERYONE is stupid (although a lot of them are) it's just that he has to teach the slower kids in the class and so the rest of us get slowed down in the process. that's the problem with school. maybe some kids learn better by having the problem drilled into them, but it definately is not the majority of us. the problem with learning in school is that it's 'one size fits all'.

It used to be the same for me. I used to do homework till midnight and get up at 4AM to write reports all the time ... evenualy I wasn't able to my alarm any more. my grades got bad afterthat. Then at the start of the next school year, my school got uniforms and decided they didn't give enough homework and so every class gave more than TWICE as much work... till a bunch of people left. Anyway thats when I turned against the system.... in the middle of an english test

After that, at the start of quarters i'd always calculate the number of homeworks i'd have to do - and what reports I could skip ... in the end I graduated - ONE english assignment away from not graduating - the BARE passing requirements

Least college is easier... still can't bring myself doing much homework though... sort of a lazyness alied with morals thing...

The thing to remember is that the people in the system are just as brainwashed as the people they are brain washing, most of them don't know they are hypocrits - they think they are doing something good and beyond the good other people do- even if others don't like it ... same way terrists think ... same way nazis, kamokazies, and guards at consentration camps thought. They all thought they were doing what was right and that their enemies were practicaly and moraly wrong. ( ....and they also thought that they'd win in the end...)

I know what you're talking about, luckily, I'm gonna quit school now, and start working. It was a tough road for me, but damn it to hell it was worth it. They don't force you to read uninteresting books at work. Thank god I am free, the fact I'll never have to see those teachers again makes me feel like life has a meaning now Smile I was like a zombie when I was in school, but the time has come for changing.. I hope you guys get a chance to get out soon, whatever you do, never start believing in their bullshit arguments. That's the key to getting out of there

ya. What the school sees as eduaction is more or less what THEY see as eduacation. In todays society more and more people are self made. However they refuse to see the changing of the winds as 'hmmm mabey we are old and out of touch' but rather 'OMG! THE CHILDREN ARE REBELING AND DOING THINGS THAT PROBABLY ARNT GOOD FOR THEM...kinda like i did but i turned out alright... BUT STILL WE MUST STOP THEM!' So in failed attemps to keep the status que they feed us vales that are still true but the way they do it is in a forcful manor that MAKES us want to rebel. So they try even harder and we get the whole "We know whats best for you even though we dont really know you." response when we question it.

Whilst some work diligently there are those who ask why. I am one of them

This has been a test of the emergency pointless argument system. Had this been a real pointless argument, someone would have been called a facist.

Sure, I always get the old "because it's needed in later life" in my school, but if what you're saying is true, they actually swallow that
