To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Taser crazy

I was sort of surprised to not have seen something on this before. What do you guys think of all the tasering going on? Does this mean we're close to becoming a fascist country? And since it was probably going on before this, why is the media just now paying attention to it?

They're just a weapon. The weapon a nation's police force uses doesn't mean anything about what type of country it is. Heck, I'd rather be tasered than shot any day! Biggrin

I don't think being tasered for asking a question, however annoying, is a valid reason to get tasered. Probably should've made that clearer in the op.

You haven't seen that dude get tasered at the Kerry forum for asking a question? Look it up on youtube, I'm sure it's full of that video by now.

I just watched the thing on youtube, I'm sure that they're going to use the excuse that he was 'resisting' arrest, as the reason that they teasered him. He totally frieked out, and I'm also wondering what it is he did to be arrested.

You should probably watch it sometime to get the whole story. I didn't explain it well in that sentence, but it's still obvious that it wasn't appropriate to use a taser. There's another video where the police escorted a lady out of a bar and tased her seven times, a couple while she was handcuffed.

Edit: He didn't really do anything but be annoying. When they went in to arrest him he raised his hands up and asked what he was being arrested for, then when they had him handcuffed on the ground he asked some more and they tased him.

the problem with tasers is the same thing that makes them good: they're less lethal than guns. cops are more eager to use them because they know they won't suffer the legal and mental trauma that often happens to cops who shoot to kill. basically, they can be trigger happy with no repurcussions.
I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.

unless of course if its on a child or old person or someone w/ heart problems.

You'd get arressted for assualting a police officer with a weapon, it would not be fun experience to go through.
