RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Split from School Violence Thread

Posted, this in the violence thread, but this deserves its own.

Something tells me there's about to be something violent going down at my school.

For those of you who remember, I have this one kid who was a friend-turned enemy (I made a thread about it in VIYH), and soon after I called him out on his bullshit and ended our friendship, all of our other friends soon hated him. We've been agitating him ever since.

Today's Valentine's Day, and as usual, our school has a program where you can pay $4 to hire members of the chorus to sing a love song and deliver a personalized message to anyone you want. Seeing the potential lulz capacity in this, we hired the chorus to sing him a love song every period of the day.

The first letter went something like this:
(From "Lt. Johnson," his self-proclaimed "commanding officer" from "JROTC")
"Thanks for reporting road rage! Also, your next training mission involves infiltrating the Russian president's office, detonating a hidden cell phone bomb, and escaping to Tanzania where you will fly an SR-71 back to America."
(That was a reference to a bullshit story he once told about how he parachuted out of an SR-71 over Russia going at mach 4 at over 70,000 feet above sea level... without a parachute, then hiking over 100 miles to the Kola Peninsula and getting in a nuclear submarine and navigating back to America)

The next few letters were from the U.S. Military:
"The military needs its SR-71 back."

"We need our Blackbird back at base."
(References to bullshit stories where he claimed to have piloted those things)

The next letter:
"You don't see me, but I see you, and I stare at you all period in class. Call me. [number]"
(The number was to a police station in Rhode Island)

There were others, too, and here's the last one:
(From his uncle)
"Please stop lying about me."
(References to every single lie/bullshit story he's told that involves his uncle)

They say that by second period, he realized he was getting a vocal valentine every single period, and he was fucking pissed. He also believes I single-handed plotted and enacted all of this.

To quote him, I'm going to "be in a body bag at remote parking."

Re: Split from School Violence Thread

Today in English, my friend and I get a call from our deans. We were both in on the Valentine's Day plan. Simply put, that kid we hate has put a school-enforced restraining order against us. He told on the five of us who bought him those vocal valentines; even the ones who weren't serious about pissing him off. As a result, he's made more enemies.

One of our mutual friends warned me to be careful, because that kid wants to kick my ass.

Well can't say you wouldn't deserve it but be careful Bobman as I wouldn't want permanent harm to come to you.
