RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Funny test answer

I have a biology test tommorow.

Recently my teacher has told me that if I don't shape up and start working hard she doesn't want me in her course

She's told me countless times to stop fooling around in class, to start studying and take biology seriously

Well tommorow as I mentioned is a test, one of the definitions she'll ask us for is "virus". I'm thinking that I throw it back in her face by writing down

"Virus is a single from Iron Maiden, released in 1996. It is the first single since 1980's "Women in Uniform" 'that does not appear on any official Iron Maiden studio album. ." (copied from google definitions)

. I'm laughing just thinking about her reaction, probably something like "Hasn't he listened to anything I've told him?". Well the truth is I have, but I just can't help myself, it's way too damn funny.

It's her fault anyway, she gives us a sheet of what's going to be on the test so I can easily make up a cheat sheet.

haha wow me and my friends do stuff like that all the time on at least one question from every assignment. The teachers cant really get pissed at us because we do all the other questions seriously and usually get decent scores. We do stuff like that just to make school a lil more interesting.

In one test (actually it was in biology now that i think about it lol what a coincidence) one of the questions was to use hypertonic, hypotonic, isotonic, kinetic energy, diffusion, and osmosis in a short essay. My friend made a completely random story that had nothing to do with biology AT ALL. It went something like this:

"One day Osmosis was walking his dog, Kinetic Energy (KN for short) when he stumbled upon an insurance salesman by the name of Hyper Tonic. Hyper Tonic asked Osmosis if he had life insurance to which Osmosis answered that he did not. So Hyper Tonic asked him if he was interested in purchasing some and Osmosis decided to try it out. Osmosis met Hyper Tonic at his insurance firm by the name of Hypo, Iso, and Hyper Tonic Inc.. Apparently it was a family business... Anyways Osmosis decided to buy the Diffusion Agreement choice of insurance. And they all lived happily ever after. Fin."

Kind of stupid but it was pretty funny when the teacher wrote "Made me laugh but still gets marked wrong"

i used to o this a lot in grade 8 and 9, because basically in those years, tehy didnt apply ot me at all ad i could crew aorund with my marks, just as long as i didnt fail the yeare.

I remember one huge SOSE test, one of the questions was

"What does GST stand for?"
I wrote "Governments Sun-dried Tomatoes"

i still keep forgetting the real answer to it.

ha ha! that's awesome. I did something kinda like that once, we had to write an essay on Romeo and Juliet for English and I turned the topic around and said that they just wanted to fuck each other and weren't really in love. I don't remember what the actual topic was though.

It's probably true, too. Laugh

LOL, good one.

I do stuff like that ALL the time.

In Geometry last year, I was SO FRUSTRATED with one of the problems on this test, I showed a lot of work and then I got totally lost. I put a huge X over all my work, and at the end I drew a person hanging off a radical sign. I'm surprised he didn't send me to the counselor.

In Chemistry this year, I get so sick of writing formulas all the time. When I came across a formula with Pb in it (Pb stands for Lead) I put Peanut Butter.

There's a lot of websites online which have scans to funny test answers and funny essays students have turned in to the teachers:
http://www.jimmyr.com/blog/Funny_Studen ... 1_2007.php

I got my idea from one of the pictures there (person hanging from radical sign).

And I always remember, if I come across a question I don't know on a test, I cannot leave it blank. I always have to write something funny, because I'm gonna get it wrong either way.

Yeah that's what I meant, lol. I don't know why I call it a radical sign. Either way, it means the same thing. lol

last year one of my friends was leaving the school so for his last exam (can't remember what subject it was for) he wrote the lyrics for a Marilyn Manson song on the front page so it looked like he had done some writing then on the other page he traced his handprint and wrote his name in the middle.

Haha. Delightful. On my test sheet for Chemistry a couple of weeks ago, I was supposed to write the chemical nickname for Tin. However, in the blank space beside the word, I simply provided "man".
The real kicker is that the next week (as I had failed to put my name on my paper), my teacher assumed I hadn't been able to take the test for some reason and placed me in a room divergent from the one everyone else was in to take it with only one other student present. What my teacher didn't notice is that he had left us in a room with three rows of computers, all hooked up to the internet, AND the answer sheet for the test he gave us (cleverly hidden inside the teacher's edition of our Chemistry book!). Not only did we get to skip an entire class period "doing the test", we didn't have to worry about getting a single question wrong. >D
