RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

All i have to do now are exams.

I have a week of exams, and then I have 2 months full of holiday packed fun of staying on the computer. I have a lot to tell you guys.

First off, I have finished my English and Studio Arts exam. The first and only good thing popped up on the English Exam, we had to analyse a newspaper article, and usually our school would pick out some boring article, but this time they picked out a pretty decent one. It was about how people don’t use their imagination these days and how they don’t use their creativity.

The author also went on to say what she felt was the cause of this, a) New Technology (kids these days sitting at home on the computer rather than going outside and kicking a ball) and b) the school education system.

As I was reading this, I was happy, I was happy because I knew I could answer these questions that were set for me without struggling. I know that if there’s one thing that im good at, its ranting on about things like these. I talked about how the school system is made out to have Maths and English like most important subjects rather than Drama or Music or Arts( I wrote about that because remember watching a video clip from linked off this website with a guy talking to people about stuff like that). Then I talked about how New Technology isn’t exactly the problem, its how you use it.

So that made me happy, although I don’t find sitting down at a desk in the middle of a huge room, writing strait for more than an hour, ‘happy’, I feel like I have carpel tunnel syndrome. My left hand hurts like crazy! I also got crappy seats for both exams as well. I hate being up the front or in the centre! Those places drive me crazy; I hate being near people like that.

Anyways, my Studio Art exam was funny, we were meant to write an essay about this picture some artist painted of Claude Monet painting a picture. I couldn’t find the words to say anything that made sense, so at the end of everything that I tried to write down that did make sense, I ended up talking about his beard.

I said that Claude Monet seems to be wearing a beard, this must mean that either 1- He is Jewish, 2- He is a Muslim or 3- He must like beards.

I also stated that he lived in a rich neighbourhood because of all of the tall houses in the background, and that the reason that he had such a sharp picket fence was to warn off trespassers because he was so wealthy.

After that, I got to go home.

Although I need your help. I know for a fact that I will fail my Italian exam, even though I am part Italian and have grown up in a sort of Italian family, I will still fail it. I need help writing an essay, I need you guys to tell me something stupid to write about. Seeings that i know a lot of you guys on here are quite creative, I will write anything you guys tell me to, and then I will scan it and post it back here……

And another thing, you know how I am leaving the all girls school I go to, well, I have to get my mum to write a note to the principal telling her that I am leaving, then I need to have a meeting with her and I get to tell her why I am leaving.

This will be great because I can finally tell the ring-leader what I don’t like about her system, and what I hate about her school. Any pointers??????

I must be off, I have a stupid maths exams tomorrow, and my hand needs its rest. I am in the special maths class for dummies, I call it ‘Vegetable Maths’, its really easy, we convert percentages into fractions and easy stuff like that!!!!

Cya later!!!!
