RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Thinking about getting a new car...
I've got a 2000 mercury sable:
When it dies I'm planning on getting an auctioned 2008 crown Victoria police interceptor:
Shit should be pretty cool. Police vehicles are built to be tougher and more reliable... Better brakes, better trasnmission, and cheaper to fix. From what I've read.
If I had 40k I'd get the new 2011 Ford Taurus, but I don't.
If I had 25k I'd get the dodge charger, but I don't...

Re: Thinking about getting a new car...
The 2008 version is rated at 14 in cities, and 21 on highways. Not that great. My car is 19 – 20 city, and 27 – 28 highway. So yeah, shitty gas mileage. Perhaps I should rethink...

I don't know much about car models, but I do know that you have to find a balance between good protection and good gas mileage. It depends on what you want more of.

Re: Thinking about getting a new car...
Honestly, my priorities are as follows:
1.) Durability.
2.) Speed.
3.) Gas Mileage.
4.) Design (Interior and exterior.)
5.) Safety.
I'm a good enough driver not to get in any collisions over 40mph... The cop car has solid fucking safety, but still, the gas mileage.
I'm planning on having a durable car that will last me at least 5 or 6 years, that will be fast and be cheap enough to only fill the tank like once a week.
Especially since I don't even have a job yet.

Get a Lotus Elise. It fulfils all your listed requirements...
^ I have one of those. Good gas mileage, not much power though, and I think they don't exist in the US. Either that or it'll be a Vauxhall something or other.

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

Re: Thinking about getting a new car...
Very nice.
I've been looking for the same kind of car.
To many damn people care about style and less about how it lasts or the gas.
My dads truck can swallow 70 bucks like its nothing.

This. Although I'm not sure how much gas is gonna cost for it. It's not TOO bad, but it's not exactly good either. Just looking at the gas mileage above doesn't exactly give me a good idea of how long it'll run on a tank...

Just steal it, you clearly fit the bill for a thief. :troll:

Only my dad. Or better yet, steal from RichMan, I think he can go without a new stretch limo for three days.
