RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Hypocrisy!

Our princi-not my-pal (as said by anther member here) and teachers have been getting onto us about trash. our nasty old school is running down, and they are now pretty strict about it. Well, today a teacher dropped a muffin while trying to throw her breakfest away. "Oops!" she said, and you know what she did? Yep. she left it there. well, she sort of kicked it under the trash can, but still didnt pick it up.

A student got up and told her to pick it up. guess what happened to him? Detention for "back talking".

What the fuck!! how do they honestly get away with all of this hypocrisy? Damn it, it really pisses me off. I just had to vent here...

Re: Hypocrisy!

Reminds me of something that happened to me way back in 5th grade. There was a pepperoni on the floor in the cafeteria, and one of the lunch aids told me to pick it up because I was eating pepperonis. However it clearly was not my pepperoni because it was a different kind. They sent me to the office for it anyway though.

Who am I? Who are YOU?

Re: Hypocrisy!

This also reminds me of the time when it was freezing cold outside and in the gym, and we had to go to adoration ('tis a Catholic school). My stupid principal has this stupid rule about not wearing jackets during religious ceremonies, so none of us could wear a light jacket or anything to keep warm, and we all had to kneel on the floor. The teachers, on the other hand, were sitting on chairs around us, all covered up in jackets, hats, mitts, etc.

It's like they just don't give a fuck anymore...

Sadly, this kind of hypocrisy is everywhere, not just in school, and the only thing you can do is call people out on their bullshit and then let them destroy themselves... None

Fuck, that's just horrible. Being forced to kneel on the floor while they sat around in chairs... So much hypocrisy.

"Adoration"... god, the whole concept is just disgusting to me now.

Re: Hypocrisy!

^I hate the concept myself, especially since I"m agnostic and legally old enough to choose not to have a religion (I know I could do that before, but I've been thinking this over for over 5 years).

We stare at a chalice for an hour. I eventually sat down and fell asleep, and was nudged awake by a pre-cal teacher...I really want to leave so I don't have to deal with this religious crap anymore. I've had enough experiences with crazy zealots that I could start another rant on them.
