RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.
Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.
This is not going as I had originally planned. long story short is that my car is causing me to hemorrage money, so I haven't saved anything since I stowed the original $600 away in savings. My boss has decided that he doesn't want me to be a work at home consultant, my family has flipped shit and the land lord wants first and last months rent immediately.
The only good things that have happened is that I have a new iPhone, my laptop is fixed (new OS) and I found out that the plane ticket is good for a year. All I need to do is pay the difference in airfare and I can go at anytime.
Leon Kinotolian Wrote:Why is it your boss has such an issue with you being a work-at-home? Also, what's with the landlord asking for two months of rent during one?
Two months rent is standard procedure when leasing new tenants. One of the payments serves as a security deposit, so if you miss a payment, or if you bail and leave the place trashed, the landlord has something to recoup his loss with. If you finish your lease on good terms the landlord will give it back to you.
As far as my boss, he's claiming that he wants someone physically in the office during the work week, and not working from home. Which would make sense if I were just doing basic administration. But I'm recruiting now. And he's going to have to find a new Admin sooner or later if I'm to continue recruiting, because I can't do both jobs. Right now I have fifteen (15!) open job requirements, from three different clients, and our original client hounding me over contract renewals and reconciliation reports.
He's also claiming that our main job board only allows users from CT to log on to our account. Which is bullshit. What I think happened was that my boss tried to allow his employees from India to use the site and the job board (rightfully) threw a fit. I think if I were to explain to the admins that I'm only moving out of state they will grant me access to the database. I'm going to call them within the next couple of weeks.
I had to ask some people what that quote ment and imagine my surprise when I googled it to find out why they were giggling.
Baron what have I done to insinuate something of what you are saying?
I'm nice to everybody here mostly and unlike you or other people I don't chase girls on the internet. :troll:
If I had a crush on somebody I like to think I would have the balls to ask them out and not play stalker(Oh snap)
I just happen to like Ayalina like I like other people.
She's a nice fun person(for a christian) and you and your britfag canon couple is sadly mistaken.

Things are starting to look up again. I just recieved a massive paycheck from my staffing job and I don't need to spend a dime of it. I now have over $1100 saved for my trip.
I don't know if I will be able to accomplish this. Money is not the issue, I should have $3000 saved up by the end of July.
It's my father. He was diagnosed four months ago with colon cancer. TL;DR he had a surgery two months ago to remove the tumor which intentionally cuts your bowels in half. Its supposed to heal that way before the doctors can go back in and reattach everything. Well, they can't do that because he has a massive infection that's responding to antibiotics.
My sister and mother are trying to tell me otherwise, but I really think this could end up killing him. He's been on antibiotics for over two months, and he even has his own iv drip at home. Now they're upping his medication and telling him to eat probiotic foods, as if that's really going to give that much of a boost to the insane amounts of antibotics coursing through his veins right now. It really sounds like they're getting desperate in thier attemtps to kill this infection.
If something happens while I'm away I will never be able to live with myself. At least in the military if something happens the red cross will send me home. If I leave on my own I might not have the means to get back.
