RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Cto govoryt po ruski?

I can speak Russian (barely) since my parents are from Russia. I haven't spoken much for years though, but I understand it quite well. Can't read or write Cyrillic, though. :(

Ya nye mogu govoryt po ruski horosho. (I can't speak Russian well). The title reads "Who speaks Russian?"

Can anyone else speak Russian? Right now, I think I can speak Spanish significantly better than Russian.

Eh? I also have a difficult time reading Russian even when it's spelled using English letters. I really suck... at least I understand spoken. Better than nothing, methinks.

And I called you an idiot. Razz

Hi guys I speak Russian. Not a big miracle, it’s my second mother tongue. So… if anybody needs some translation, consultation, just help - be relaxed, feel free, don’t shy away and ask me any silly questions. From philosophy to slang (BTW isn’t philosophy just a kind of slang? J)
Ya liublIU vas vsekh, Ya liublIU SS, Ya liublIU SoulRiser osObenno!

I’m really happy to see you Polish girls on here.
It seems the site is getting more and more international
I’m Alexander too ( that is “tyozka“ in Russian, - the same first name) , maybe a little bit older and (consequently) sillier. And I’m really happy you are on here. I’m not a big-broadband member, but I’m a real SS’s fan. It’s very very friendly and warm community, so, be free, be relaxed, be yourself.
Be good and be happy because to be happy is good!
And, remember:
Ne ver’, ne boysia, ne prosi.
Never.-

"To be governed is to be watched, inspected, directed, indoctrinated, numbered, estimated, regulated, commanded, controlled, law-driven, preached at, spied upon, censored, checked, valued, enrolled, by creatures who have neither the right, nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so."

I really should learn to read Cyrillic one day. I wouldn't really know where to start, though. Could always ask my parents for help. I already recognize a few words by memory like Здравствуйте and Росси́я of course, but that's really it.

Nie, ale mówię po polsku, język polski jest trochę podobny do języka rosyjskiego.

(No, but I speak polish, the polish language is kind of similar to the russian language)
