RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

The Walking Dead

When I first saw The Walking Dead on AMC it would be a lie to say I was not hooked from the get go. Mabey you guys watched it, mabey you didntm but if you didnt I HIGHLY recomend you check out the first season. Its only six episodes long, and hour each, so you could easily knock it down in a day or so. However, The Walking Dead is also based upon a comic series. Personaly its my favorite thing on TV, even ahead of the E! News seggment with Hayden Panettiere in a bikini.

If you liked the show, you NEED to read the comics. It is the best comic series I have ever read. But let me tell you it does have some heartwrenching drama in it. I wont go to far into it, but I actually cried at some parts, but then agian, I put myself in the places of others as I read, so it hits me a littel harder than most. Its that powerfull. You can DL the whole series of TPB but you need comical to view it.

Re: The Walking Dead

I'll check it out. I get pretty attached to shows as well. I've been watching a bunch of cop shows lately, so a change will be nice. Although, I'll have to stop being lazy and move all of the shows and movies onto my external to free up some space... I'll do that now actually, as to avoid doing my homework.

Re: The Walking Dead

Yeah, I've been thumbing through the comics for awhile now whenever I get the chance. The thing is though that you can't really rely on what is going on in the comics. Kirkman has already said that they plan on using the TV adaptation to go in a different direction that he wasn't able to do on paper.

Re: The Walking Dead

I know that, which is why I am so fucking happy about the AMC series, its like reliving the comics all over again, but without knowing whats going to happen next, so the suspense is still there.

Re: The Walking Dead

Eh, I tried watching the show but it seemed pretty bad. Like they were constantly running out of ideas and filling up the extra airtime with awkward "emotional moments," gratuitous sex scenes, and tedious conversations that don't go anywhere. But I did take a look at the comics and they seemed much better, so maybe I'll give them a try.

But really, I love zombies as much as anyone, but it's getting old. To make a successful zombie story now, you've got to throw in something new. Walking Dead didn't. It was just a TV version of pretty much every zombie movie already made.

I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.
