RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Need your help for my last report card
So I'm gonna drop out at the end of this year (I'm in ninth class currently, still have to go there).
The last eight years, it was extremely easy for me to write straigt A's, I didn't study for any tests. Now I'm in Highschool and it became tougher. I wasn't used to worse grades so I studied for the tests and managed a straight A report card for the first half of the year.
But... It's not fun, it wastes my time. I have only one semester to go, I don't know if I should study for my tests. I mean, all my report cards were straight A's. I don't know if it would upset me if my last one isn't.
What is your opinion on this? Any advice?

So much this.
Trust me when you get older you will look back on these straight A's and realize that you could have done something more productive or fun.
I cheated my way through highschool with straight B's and I look back on the times I played games while everybody else studied their asses off on worthless facts and it brings a smile to my face.

what HoS said. I used to love getting high grades but, right now, I have to prioritise my mental fucking health over my grades.

Re: Need your help for my last report card
I made mostly A's in high school without studying. I only studied things I liked(math, science) and rarely anything else.

Do whatever you feel is best. You know yourself better than anyone. If your parents are hardasses about the system and grades, though, I suggest learning how to forge the results on your report card so you can skate by their eyes without being bitched at.

Shit bro, my mental health took a dip with straight A's.
I got some B's and some hater teachers, and my mind is clear. IM NATURALLY SMART. Bs are like not trying for me. But hey, most people are naturally smart, but school doesn't give them an option to use that smartness.
Honestly, i don't care what happens in my classes. For now it's forced daydreaming. And after hours and hours of it with a background monotone voice it gets boring.
War is stupid.

Your situation is exciting. I think it would be totally awesome and bad-ass if you manage to continue the straight As until you drop out.

Re: Need your help for my last report card
Do whatever you wish, but I would just relax a bit. Maybe you don't have to study your ass off, if you're worried about getting low scores then just pass with B's or C's. Schools not a big deal man, not as much as everyone says. "You need school" blah blah blah!
Just live your life, you can still get a job, you can still go to uni. People just make it seem harder when in reality it is not.
