RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I was harassed by my head teacher.

Ok. So here is the story. I had left my flash drive on a table in a study room. This room has computers in it. Anyway, i was in that room doing some work. I then walked up to go to talk to someone and noticed that i had left my flash drive on the table. I went to talk to the person that i had seen. After i had finished talking i went and grabbed my Flash drive because i needed to save some work.

The next WEEK i was called into the head teachers office. He then showed me some CCTV footage of me picking up an object and he asked me what it was. As the image was so blurry it was impossible to work out, he could also not know what i had picked up. I had said that i don't remember since in was the week before. He then proceeded to tell me that someone had stolen a boys mobile/cell phone. He said to me that i had stolen it. I said i didn't.

Anyway it was the end of the day so i had to go home. He then called me into his office the next day and proceeded to tell me that i had stolen the phone. He kept this up for almost 10 minutes saying that he saw me take the guys phone and that he was absolutely sure it was me. Because of this i was very ill and almost started crying (i was 17 at the time)

Anyway the result of this harassment was that i started to get very bad chest pains and extreme paranoia (which down to this day have not recovered from). I was never apologized to, and he never said sorry for making me feel bad and for a long time i had the symptoms that you get when you are told that you have done something and you start to believe it yourself.

What do you think about this...because i was very upset and at times almost fainted because of the chest pains and my breathing being so bad.

Did you ever tell him later that it was your flash drive? And didn't the cameras also show that YOU had been sitting there next to that object for a long time before you got up and then went back there?

Yeah, it was you, but that wasn't a phone! Cuckoo

What a jerk. I also hate being accused of things I didn't do, but I tend to get angry rather than... chest pains and stuff. But you didn't do it. Don't let some idiot make you feel bad about something you didn't do... Hug

Yes. In the end i showed him conclusive evidence that it wasn't me. He still didn't believe me. Here's what happened.

When taking the object, i never once put in my pocket. That was clear enough. Then I also showed him where i had taken the object and you could clearly see me putting my flash drive into the computer.
