RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Somewhere inbetween. I'm pretty good at a few games, I like to tweak and edit the crap out of them, but I don't care much about pwning everyone or being 1337 or whatever. It's great if it happens by accident though. But I can't be bothered to make it happen on purpose (anymore. Been there, done that, burned the t-shirt) Razz

And I absolutely HATE EA GAMES. Rocket

EA eats companies that make good games, and then shits them out in pieces that hardly function properly anymore. Their next target is Take2. GTA series, anyone? Noo

Delicious GTA, I must play it, I'm actually attempting to get 100% on San Andreas right now, currently I'm at 88.24%.
Pretty good for for only 61 hours of play, and that's including time spent goofing off and getting bonuses that don't affect your percentage, like getting all gold in all schools, burglary, and stat maxing.

Actually EA managed to put out a few good games. For instance they did really well with Allied Asault, Spearhead and Breakthrough.

Sure, they have some good games. The Need For Speed series is good, even though they fucked up a few things in each game. The games are still good. But that's not the point. EA's mission in life is to take over the entire games industry, n00bify everything, and ruin everyone else's chances of being successful in the games industry. They even admitted that.

Not quite true, DM. Actually, Rock Band belongs to Harmonix, the same people who created the Guitar Hero Franchise, and after the first game, they then sold the rights for it to Red Octane.. EA Games may have a share in RB, but it's not the same as owning the exclusive rights to a game like they do the NFS Franchise. It may not seem like it, but it is the truth.

"Hardcore" is such a strong, ugly,.....Accurate word. But me, I think that I have been propelled to the next plane, a higher plane, I have gone beyond the level of Hardcore. I have become....... Ascended.

Re: Casual or hardcore?

I'm definitely a hardcore gamer.

I don't think casual gamers go to LAN parties every other week or stay up 3 days in a row playing a single game online. (COD4)

I'm more of a weekend warrior gamer... I don't play much during the week but as soon as the weekend rolls up I'm ready for non-stop gaming..
