To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

We didn't have a topic because everyone would fucking agree that gay marriage is fine. And if they didn't agree it doesn't matter, because they're idiots.

Uh, not really. I wouldn't consider somebody an idiot if they were opposed to gay marriage. This is just for anybody who does oppose it and if you wanted to argue your point against them.

Well, if they have an opinion, I haven't heard/disproved yet, I won't consider them an idiot.

I want gays to have rights just the same as heterosexuals. But I want it to be called something else other than a marriage. I was just raised with marriage always being a sacred practice. Never a state one. But marriage is tricky because it's both state and (to many people) sacred.
Whatever you call it though, they deserve the same rights and technicalities (plug pulling, funds, adoption, etc.).
Call me picky. I just want there to be a difference somehow.

Happy Camper, me and my brother were talking about this and saying that same thing pretty much. We came up with the idea that their should be a civil union license (instead of a marriage license) and then you can go off and get married in whatever venue you wish and get a title of marriage or something there if you wish. And the gov't has nothing to do with that part of it.

I think all marriage should just be a private thing between 2 people and have nothing whatsoever to do with anyone else. There can just be some legal thing to show that they are now officially "related" for convenience's sake, but nothing more.

i have no problem with gay marriage. if your in love and want to get married good for you. it shouldn't matter if your the same sex or not.
if youve never had sex before how could you define yourself as being straight? i mean you wouldnt know unless youve had had sex with both genders.

Well I think if you've never found yourself attracted to the opposite sex.. i.e. when they are undressing or they're up in your bubble.. then that's a pretty good indicator. And, I'll admit I'm very inexperienced, but I would guess sex could physically feel good with either gender no matter what sexual orientation you are.

it's wrong to discriminate againist anyone,so they should be allowed to marry.

It is a legal contract expressing love, and as such, should be agreed to by all parties becoming one in the legal contract.

yes, but its also wrong wen everyone does anything they want, cant you see a slight problem with that?
if ur not attracted to the same sex, ur not gay, and prob not bi, and it may be easy to get confused for sum ppl. also, just cuz you love some one of the same sex dont mean ur gay, i cuddle with my girl friend all the time, and love her, but not in that way. sometimes its just affection, and ppl get confused, you can love your mother, but it dont mean you wanna do her (please no milf comments)
