RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

-Help me change teachers-

Well if i convince my parents to they will let me transfer to another block class,
both of them has one of my best friends in them , and my current teacher is the most bicthy teacher in the school and none of my friends are in any of my classes.
first there's a guy teacher he's the nicest one and my best friends in that class. second theirs a girl teacher and pretty even teaching and my very close friend
is there.

So anyway either way i just wanna get the hell away from my teacher and with my friends.

if i give a good argument to my parents tomorrow night they will let me transfer so can someone please give me advice so i can get away from my suck ass teacher.

Smile

yes, I'm gonna talk to my parents tomorrow gonna talk tomorrow night.

hears some basic back round.

1 week ago she cussed out the morning block class (I'm afternoon damn i wish i couda saw that.)
some kid asked to go to the bath room and she said "Well you better fucking hurry your ass up and get
you fucking work done!" she made 4 kids cry,

Then the next day she failed every single person's homework because we forgot periods
and made us all redo it on paper.

shes also the kind of teacher that "wants to help you" as in get in the way of your life.

generally she sucks,

Is it possible you are in that class because somebody didn't want you in the class where you will screw off with your "best friend(s)?" If I was going to advise you on this I'd have to say you should tell you want to be in the other class for academic reasons--they are doing classwork that you would be more interested in. Can you find an angle like that, where you are arguing for a "better learning experience" instead of criticizing your current teacher?

Damn!

In a week i have to meet with my teacher and my parents about the transfer!

so my teacher's just gonna try to set something up for me and this lowers my chance of transferring
and one class is full so if I transfer I either get nice teacher or bad teacher.

All because of the stupid ass tranfering rules they made 2 years ago!

Yea, the mean teacher does have 3 of my friends tho.
but anyway my teacher's just gonna say the class I'm in is fine and I'm
problem gonna get stuck there...

so I've got 60% chance of transferring
and 50 50 for mean or nice teacher.

a special plan for me (which means shit) so yea...

Damn, last time I checked in you had this problem all fixed. Now you say the deal isn't done. You have to participate in some kind of meeting with the teacher and your parents. You MIGHT be screwed, or you COULD be what teachers call "proactive" and win the meeting. Didn't you know, somebody wins every meeting? If you have already planned to lose the meeting then you probably will.

You have to convince your parents that what you want is what THEY want. I'm not exactly sure how to do that because I don't know your situation, but you could begin with positives and use buzz words like "Win-Win." In other words, make your problem something they can solve if they do it your way.

Your grades are good (except journalism). You "like" school (whether you really do or not) and you just think this learning experience isn't working. THINK LIKE THEY DO, AND OUT-THINK THEM!

Works for me!
