RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Anime Club

I just found out to day that my school is starting an anime club. I never would have expected this. First the hacky sack club, now this! What's next?

Got a question:

What are they going to do in there?

Hidden stuff:
The game...you lost! HAHAHAHA!!!!

My school has this, from what I've been told, they just draw hentai. But if you want to hear about pointless clubs, my school has a rubber stamp club. A fucking rubber stamp club.

On the line right under the statement that says we now own your soul, of course you'll have to sign with your blood.

No can do, already sold my soul to get out of class one time. At least, I think I did, it may have been a hallucination.

So, why do they have these clubs anyway?

My old school's anime club was actually pretty cool.

The students who were part of it just decide on an anime to watch and then watch it. Or they can choose to just hang out for the day.

It's simple. If you're into anime, it might be worth looking into. If you're not, you'll get nothing out of it.

Our school thinks everyone should be in a after school club. And if you aren't in one they'll always try to find an excuse to get you into some kind of Homework Help thing.
The worst thing about it is they usually always use it as leverage against you to make good grades and not be a revolutionary.

Laugh

Our school sucks, no clubs, at all.

I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

I actually founded one of theses at my school. We watched GOOD anime, examples include: Miyazaki's stuff, and a few TV shows that peole had. So at first it was all fun. ACTUALL anime intertwined with a bit of hellsing, some trigun and a tad of stand alone fortress. No DBZ, no Inuasha, no Naruto, and no pop schoolgirl bullshit. It was me and roughly 5 other people that watched during lunch to pass time. We did no advirtising or that shit. Well this small meeting was then found by the people that kill anime; the wapanesse. Luckilly only a few found it and the rest of freshman year was not a loss at all. Sophmore year rolls around. We try to descreatly continue however the wapanesse feel that it NEEDS to be a club. Then to get school funding it becomes a Japanesse 'culture' club. Me and the original few people that had grown to mabey 10-12 washed our hands of it compleatly.

Whilst some work diligently there are those who ask why. I am one of them

We have a table tennis club.

The ONLY reason, it is at all enjoyable is because the teacher who supervises or whatever is a complete badass.

Hacky sack club would have sounded fun.... 4 or 5 years ago when I was into soccer...
