RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Underwires cause me rashes in the heat, straps slip down or are too tight, come undone sometimes and if they don't fit right then leaning forward leads to everyone seeing everything which defeats their purpose. And they itch me. :(

Fuck yeah binders instead.

Don't wear bras then, 200% men attention. IDGAF if you are gay.

I thought the purpose of bras was to enhance cleavage. The only useful purpose, anyway.

Pretty much what I already do, ahah.

Push up bras enhance cleavage, normal ones are basically there just to cover stuff up, and and lost or gained weight can lead to awkwardness. Pushups are indeed actually useful compared to others.

The new Director of Sales at work. Seriously this guy is fucking idiot.

1. He doesn't know how to download attachments from email
2. He doesn't know how to print
3. He doesn't realize that instead of wasting paper and printing requisitions he can just email us the requirements
4. He can't write a basic business letter. I either have to write it for him or do some serious editing.

5. He stares at the fax machine like he's never seen one before
6. Ditto with the thermostat

7. He has no concept of personal space. One day he wanted to watch what I was doing on my computer so he leaned over my shoulder so far that his face was closer to the screen than mine. When he wants to talk he'll lean on a table so much that you can hear the wood buckle under his weight.

8. Did I mention he's a pack a day smoker? I wanted to falcon punch him that day.

9. He honestly thinks he's my manager. Fuck him.

10. He's a walking cacaphony of annoying sounds. He's constantly coughing, clearing his throat, sucking his dentures back into place (if you don't know what that sounds like suck your tongue against the roof of your mouth Yuck ) stomping around, or tossing things around in the mini fridge.

Again, I agree with you. School does teach you things. And once again, you are missing the point entirely. It's not that I disagree with school's mission or the things it teaches. What I object to is that the students are deprived of any choice in the matter. As benign as the intentions may be, any system that forces people into an environment where they have no say in their lives is a situation ripe for abuse of power.

Two second later, some guy told me to stop whining cause its a weapon to be used in-game and to shut up.

When teachers go over the same stuff. Every. Single. Year.
When my teacher lets us out late every single English class that goes until lunch.
When people expect you to be a complacent little sheep and follow their way of doing things when you can do it a lot faster.

I'd put a pithy quote here, but I'd rather speak for myself.

Superpowers aren't just flying and lifting several tons. Whatever you're good at, that's your superpower. Learn to deal with it.

When I'm scrolling down my news feed on facebook, half awake (I check it once a day) and suddenly there's this horrifying picture of a half eaten baby saying "This baby got half eaten by his dog. 1 like= 1 prayer that he'll get better" and there's always some faggot on my friends list who likes it. WHAT the FUCK

Go to work. Send your kids to school. Follow fashion. Act normal. Walk on the pavement. Watch TV. Save for your old age. Obey the law. Repeat after me: "I am free."

I hate people that scream at my face. Makes me wanna punch them.
I hate when some teachers find errors in works that don't exist, and give me a 0.
And also when people who do not interpret well what I say and jumps to conclusions.
