RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Star Wars: Episode I returns to your screens in 3D

http://starwars.com/movies/episode-i/3d ... index.html
Quote:"Star Wars" fans, are you ready for Jar-Jar Binks in his full 3-D glory?

Wesa think you better be, because news is out that the 3-D version of "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" is arriving in theaters on February 10, 2012, just in time for a "Stars Wars"-themed Valentine’s date!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox will handle the release of the film, while creator George Lucas’ own Industrial Light & Magic is in charge of the 3-D conversion, which the company will do with a keen eye for both technological considerations and artistic intentions.

A 3-D version of "The Phantom Menace" definitely holds some exciting potential, especially set-pieces like the Naboo invasion, the Tatooine Podraces (a la "Tron’s" bike race scenes) and the epic lightsaber battle between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn. Perhaps the 3-D version can allow us to spot the difference between Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley, who played Queen Amidala’s decoy in the film.

The February release date would mean that the film avoids the crowded summer blockbuster season, which gives it a good shot at racking up some serious dough at the box office. We’re sure George Lucas is hoping for "The Phantom Menace" to garner "Avatar"-like numbers.

It's already known that the remaining five films of the franchise are also getting the 3-D treatment, with each getting a release a year apart. If "Star Wars" fans get their way, we'll be encountering the galaxy far, far away for at least the next six years to come.

...I think Lucasfilms is getting desperate for money. Or trying to distract us while they come up with new material. Or both.

Star Wars is great. But only the original trilogy. Why don't they release the originals in 3D ONLY? The prequels sucks and should never be re-released in any way!

I will watch Phantom Menace only to see Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon.

The Federation's invasian of Naboo was an inside job, done by Palpatine in order to scare princess amidalla in to sacking the old Chancellor in favor of Palpatine's pro Naboo military leadership.
