To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

OMG, people, school is NOT out to make you look stupid
Its there to make you THINK. School rewards this. Its not out to make you look dumb. It wants you to think logically,emotionally, and rationally about all things. Its trying to prepare you for the real world.
Just like the media. Most people assume its out to target stupid people. Its not. Its to make you THINK.
Come on people.

And as for the Media. When Gaza was getting Bombed a while back, why didn't the Media do coverage on that? You wanna know why. Because their there to make sure the Public stays inside the Box. They are their to makes sure you don't hear about things that will make you less supportive of the Government.

It's not that school doesn't encourage learning. It does a very good job of encouraging specific learning. School doesn't teach you how to form thoughts, it gives you the thoughts you need to know for the test. School doesn't teach you how to argue, it teaches you how to listen. School doesn't teach you how to feel, it teaches you what to feel.

Exactly! School was not set up with an understanding of the brain -- at least not the minds of Myers-Briggs (MBTI) Intuitive types.

However, I don't see anyone questioning the very structure of school, especially for the minority of students who can't stand learning in the linear, disintegrated manner that traditional school forces on people.
I'm studying neuroscience and psychology and learning (outside of school.) I'd like to figure out how to translate my experience and knowledge into something that can help those who are experiencing the mental death I experienced in school. Everyone tells me I need a college degree to earn a living in this field, but that's the very system that is incompatible with how I learn! And it seems like everyone who hates school grows up and gives up on doing anything about it. :(
Whatever school is out to do, it sure as Hell makes some people look stupid!

Yes, it is there for a more or less "good" reason. But, where is our Freedom in all of this? Being forced into a building for 8 hours a day, for 5 days every week and for a whole year is NOT freedom. Without Freedom, there is no life.
