RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

New, Silent, and Observer of Beings
Greetings.
My name is as it was in the column to the right of the subject name. I'm not sure if there's much for me to say, but I'll wing it.
School is as it seems to be. I have no comment for the facility or faculty at the time, as I was rung into the website by some of my school comrades who suggested the site to me between waves of crumpled paper, erasers, gum wrappers, and pencils.
And so I'm here.
I'm generally known as the "quiet" one of the class and it is probably because of this that these people continually tell me to speak up/start laughing/say something/ etc etc. Others have called me smart. I have turned down the "gifted program" and am one of the few artists in our very small community.
I can give advice or an unbiased opinion for those who want it. I can also critique stuff, write songs, write poetry (which I can't find out how to post to save my life... So, one of my pieces is attached), and I work on stories. I spend a lot of time to just think, and I can talk about philosophy with enough time.
SO. That is me. Any questions?

Welcome, though I did not read your poem, my version of word can't open that file, pity.

Re: New, Silent, and Observer of Beings
Thanks.
I do think it is better to be awake anyway, I just feel like I'm asleep half the time. (Unless theres some weird conjunction of the moon the night before and... Never mind.)
And as for the poem, even I am continuing to find complications with it. But then, I'm still new to most of this. The system included. Maybe I'll find a way to get it tacked up with the other poems on this site.

I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

Hi there
So you're the person who sent me like... 10 blank poems. Basically, you're supposed to copy and paste the text of the poem into the box before you send it... you can't send files.
'Tis a good poem though. I also always preferred rainy days... damn sunny sky.

Re: New, Silent, and Observer of Beings
Sorry about that. I couldn't figure it out really at all.
It's kind of embarrassing actually.
Thanks for the welcome.
And I have a link for the poem. I put it on another website for what I thought was simplicity.
So.

Sanity huh?
No. I try to keep that pretty close. I leave it at the door of the bus with Starth though, and pick it up when I go home.

Re: New, Silent, and Observer of Beings
We use sanity lightly, keep your intelligence and such, but don't try to make sense of about half the things we say (or more depending on the posters).

Re: New, Silent, and Observer of Beings
Awesome! Thanks cryptevah72.
There's actually a story to the rain bit.
I do like it when it rains, and I had a known habit of going outside, especially when it was raining. Though it was still hard to convince my principal of the argument I was only able to come up with later. It was the dead of winter, we don't have PE (something about still not being an official school yet...), and the downpour was just there. After a time my friends started coming out with me and we started a water-fight. I got in "trouble". (I was singled out. Not necessarily something I'm proud of, but she later gave up the point and doesn't really say anything about it.) Plus, I haven't caught a cold from it yet!
I'm glad I come off as a real person. It would be, what's the word.. different if I wasn't.
And thanks for your welcome! It is very appreciated on my part.
