RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

sweet modesty
Hello my school hating brothers and sisters. I started posting on this forum a while back, but I doubt anyone remembers me because I stopped posting shortly after school began to grow on me. But now, with summer vacation on the horizon, I just want out, and I feel the need to vent about a few things.
This friday at my school, we were allowed to wear green and white for some sort of basketball game (I go to a private school, so normally we have to wear a uniform). I was wearing a green tank top with a white hoodie over it, and while I was watching the game, this librarian comes up to me and says,
"That's very wrong and unchristian-like of you to wear that. Zip your hoodie up or I will give you a detention right now."
Me: Okay, I'll zip it up.
(Librarian walks away, and comes back a minute later)
Librarian: I've changed my mind. I can not allow you to wear that.
Me: Why? It's zipped up.
Librarian: Yes, but if I permit you to keep it zipped, it's going to send the message that students are allowed to be immodest as long as it's underneath their clothing.
Me: That doesn't make any sense. Everyone's immodest under their clothing. You should stop being so immodest under yours.
Librarian: *biggest fakest smile* There are no negotiations.
I guess it's pretty typical of the librarians at my school to do that sort of thing, so it's not really a big deal. I just never could understand why some people choose to go out of their ways just to get others in trouble, and find the process enjoyable.

UNCHRISTIAN?
Also, kill your librarian. Preferably with a knife.

Eugh, what a bitch. >_<
I hate it when schools think that a few students doing...whatever will "send a message." I guess they've gotta keep all bases covered when it comes to them looking good. Same is for lawsuits... :/
Well you made a great point with the immodesty thing. Welcome back.

Funny you would say that actually. Most people who've met her will tell you that it is very tempting to hurt her in some way(she has these ice-blue eyes and smiles all the time, fluttering her lashes, especially when she's getting someone in trouble).

Thank you. That's exactly it. It's insulting when schools expect that because one person acts a certain way, everyone will follow in suit like lemmings or something. But you're right, my school is very concerned about their reputation. I guess they feel like they need to hire people like that to keep us rascals in line.

A wise dude once told me that "the last thing an authority will try to keep is their image". It makes sense, really. School's no exception.

pwned! Nicely done.
She sounds like a disgrace to the word "Christian" though.

Unchristian, eh? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't God create you naked, at least according to Christian teachings? And every time I see Jesus on a cross, his chest is bare.

Re: sweet modesty
Just tell her that not all people are christian and that before she opens her fucking trap she should register whether you are one or not. Also say that unless she physically forces you to take it off. Then she can't do anything because if she does try and physically take it off you can sue her!

From the original post, I kinda deducted that Hayley attends a school which is affiliated with a church (e.g. a catholic school). But it's just an educated guess, I don't know for sure.

Re: sweet modesty
What a stupid bitch. Who is she to define immodesty? It's people like this that boil my blood.
And I remember you! =D
back.
I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

Re: sweet modesty
Hey there darth! I remember you too =) I thought I'd have been forgotten with my minimal posting though.
And yes, the assumption that I go to a christian school was right.
