RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Guitar Hero

I have become fucking addicted to Guitar Hero...well 2 and 3 to be specific. I used to hate Guitar Hero, I hadn't really played it but I thought it was losers who were too untalented to play real guitar (I play my guitar myself so I thought I was above them all) but .bout a week or so ago my boyfriend got Guitar Hero 3 for his Xbox 360 and now I am fucking addicted to it.

I even bought him Guitar Hero 2 for 50 bucks (Australian money) just so I could play it. I haven't played it in a few days now but man it cramps up your arms if you play it so much. Even though they both have kind of mediocre songs on it (about 4 really good ones on each game) I still can't get over how fun it is. He's in our room playing 2 right now.

I'm really good at easy mode but still can't get the hang of medium, apparently I got really good at it way quicker than Mark did and he's scared I'm going to get better than him. The only grievences I have with the games are 1. it's nothing like playing real guitar and 2. lots of the songs are re-recorded with different singers and all the swearing is changed, I'd actually prefer them to keep the original version and blank out the swearing then re-record it and change the words, lame.

So who else has fallen under the evil spell of Guitar Hero?

Re: Guitar Hero

I like them all. (But don't have a single one!) GH 1, 2, 3, FoF, and RB.
But I am not addicted. Biggrin

I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

Re: Guitar Hero

It's not bad. One of the few video games I actually like. Can't say I'm addicted to it.

Also, real guitar > Guitar Hero.

Ok I lied >.>
I played frets on fire, and got 50% accuracy on my 5th try on hard :/ I could get 90%+ in about 10 hours if I wanted to, on hard.

Re: Guitar Hero

Personally, I think guitar hero is shit. I have never been a fan of it and never will. Play real games like medal of honor heroes or blazing angels. You like that, fine, I won't stop you from playing. That's just my opinion.

So anything that's not a World War 2 console shooter isn't a real game?

FAIL GAME IS FAIL

People give up their lives for many reasons.
For friendship, for love, for an ideal
And people kill for the same reasons.

I'm not saying that, FIFA, football, and some Burnout games are good too (FIFA especially), but I LOVE MOH Heroes. It's one of the best games.
