To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Yes, when I can. I'm pulled in a lot of directions right now. I'm on Second Life quite a bit lately, working on the book, the film, and just life in general (work, family stuff, homebrewing, etc.).
There are a lot of new people here. I guess part of the reason I've not been on much is because whenever I come on I feel a little overwhelmed. There's just so much stuff here lately. I find it a bit intimidating. I think part of the reason I'm not very good at video games that are action style is because I have a low threshold for overload. I just get to a point where I can't process when there's too much stimulus.
Boy, you ask me a simple question...

Geez, only took me a year or so to answer this one.
Anyway, yes, I love steel-toed boots. I own two pairs. One I use for work (teaching. LOL), and one's an older pair I use when I'm doing carpentry or other manual labor. Both are pretty simple designs and only about six inches high. at the top.
I got nothin'.

There's a chapter about School Survival. I've been on the site, off and on (mostly off, lately) since... well, at least since 2004. I think it was before that, but my account sort of got lost when the site switched over to a new version around that time.
I'm a professor at a university in Georgia. I teach speech and some other things. I'm old as fuck (42), married, have a 10 year old daughter.

Nope, haven't written the review yet. Partly due to laziness, but also because the forum it speaks of doesn't entirely exist anymore... I wish all of that was still true. Well, I suppose most of it still is. But it isn't really the same either... but I will write that review someday... when I can be proud of the forums again.
