RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Jung/Briggs-Meyers Test

About two years ago, there was a thread here that had people's results for a personality test. The results were somewhat surprising to me, but suggested that people on this site are somewhat unusual compared to a general population. I don't want to be too specific here, because I'd like to see if the results can be replicated, or if it was just a weird coincidence.

Anyway, go take this test: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

My result is:

Quote:Your Type is
INFJ
Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging
Strength of the preferences %
56 50 38 33

INFJ type description by D.Keirsey
INFJ Identify Your Career with Jung Career Indicator™ INFJ Famous Personalities
INFJ type description by J. Butt and M.M. Heiss

Qualitative analysis of your type formula

You are:

* moderately expressed introvert
* moderately expressed intuitive personality
* moderately expressed feeling personality
* moderately expressed judging personality

I took that test a few days ago and got INTP. It's surprisingly accurate for me.

I usually get INFP... but this has happened before too:

lulz factor: I save these things in a text file, by date. Last time I got INFJ was in June 2007. Before and after that was INFP again. What's up with June? Laugh

Re: Jung/Briggs-Meyers Test

Well, it's certainly not a restrictive definition. More like a cluster of preferences than a deterministic set of outcomes. I certainly have gotten different outcomes on these tests. Hmm... lemme take it again and see. Flipped from INFJ to INFP this time. Though this shows much more introversion than the last. I used a different test this time.

Quote:Your personality type is INFP.
Introverted (I) 93% Extraverted (E) 7%
Intuitive (N) 73% Sensing (S) 27%
Feeling (F) 70% Thinking (T) 30%
Perceiving (P) 64% Judging (J) 36%

Re: Jung/Briggs-Meyers Test

INFJ - been the same from my early 20's, before that I was a bit more extroverted. While we're on the subject, I'm also a Taurus and a Horse and a 4. I think all these ways of categorizing myself can be a useful tool for reflecting on who I am as a person (whether I agree or disagree) but I don't think they tell YOU anything about me.

Re: Jung/Briggs-Meyers Test

Ooopsie.

I do find in interesting how often the IN types come up for SS members. There's a chart of type distributions here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-Brigg..._Indicator. If you add up all of the IN types, you get 11.2% of the entire population. While our sample is pretty small on this site, we currently have a poll result in which 73% are IN types.

I got nothin'.

Good fuckin' question. I think maybe it's both/and. They are both true, and they may even feed each other. Thinking leads to different opinions, which leads to more thinking, which leads to... (and so on).

On average I'm an IN?P.

Feeling and thinking, I'm pretty much split down the middle. I think I am leaning more and more toward T though recently. INFP-healer personality. INTP-architect personality. I'm kind of a hybrid.

INTP. It a ctually sounds a lot like me. *shock*. I actually have insulted people by being in a world of my own. I got slapped by someone who I was "ignoring" and didn't know until a friend (who knew I liked "zoning out") told me.

Hey, there, HC! Long time, sistah. How you been?

I also tend to be borderline that way. When I was about 25, i was an INTJ. I've become somewhat more sensitive in my old age, I guess.
