RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.
-SoulRiser

Re: [In]finite Universe
An omniverse is a universe that has both plant and meat matter in it, and a multiverse is a bad comic book gimmick.
Those articles are obviously wrong.

Re: [In]finite Universe
"we may be the only form of intelligent life in the universe" well technically speaking we may be but we dont know what we do know is that there are planets, what are planets well planets are a form of "something' but if the planets werent there than what would be there? well i dont think anyone knows because planets are in space and there is nothing in space if something just vanishes what is there? "dark energy" dark energy is a form of energy that appears when something dissapears in space. so No i dont think there is any other intellegint life form umong our solar system but how about the parallel universe? if thhere is a parallel universe than there would be more life and possibly more intelligent.

Tis true.
Should we restart the topic maybe though? Debating botomatic2's post would be interesting.

I meant the guy before you. And oh the delicious irony how I bumped an old thread myself just after this.

Re: [In]finite Universe
No No this is good i would have join in this conversation earlier but i had alot of things to do .
i think omniverse is the truth. I mean isnt everything always in balance? Fire/water dark/light life/death. every possible event and change has been taken place. Simply go to your neighboring universe lol...

I think you're talking about the multiverse. Omniverse is, I believe, where people could very well drink fire and get burned my water. Well, possibly, the bottom line is, the laws of physics change in an omniverse. In a multiverse, the same laws of physics are kept, but different things happen, or maybe that's strictly a string theory. Well, I sort of know what's going on at least.

O . I guess but if every aspect of the universe is different from the next i dont think that the law of physics stay the same in a sense but maybe

Re: [In]finite Universe
I'm trying to figure out a list... hows this look?
1 "Plane" & 1 Universe inside it
"Level I"
1 Plane & Multiple Universes inside it (can interact)
Cosmic Inflation
1 Plane & Multiple Universes inside it (can't interact due to physics)
Multiple Planes & 1 Universe inside each (can't interact)
M-theory
Multiple Planes/"D-branes" & 1 Universe inside each (can interact via gravity)
Multiple Planes & Multiple Universes on each
Multiple Planes of 1 Universe (can't interact)
Multiple Planes of 1 Universe (interact causing the supervoids)
Many-worlds interpretation / Level III / Trans-world identity
Immutable Planes of 1 Universe (Planes/"Worlds" make copies of themselves instead of changing) (with forking)
Immutable Planes of 1 Universe (Planes make copies of themselves instead of changing) (without forking)
Modal realism
All possible ways the universe could exist, do exist
Ultimate Ensemble
All possible ways the universe could exist, do exist, each possible way is on one immutable plane

I don't know what Michio means, but 'Kaku' means writing (noun, not verb). Lol.

Re: [In]finite Universe
My thought is the universe as we know it isn't infinite. Energy is another story, but what we call the universe is one day going to collapse back into energy. I'm just glad to be along for the ride long before that happens.

Re: [In]finite Universe
Noises abound
Jupiter Sounds
floating
soaring
dispersed
Beings fall from time-formed cracks
the celestials cry impossible phrases
Evolution: the womb of the hybrid
Spriral aminos shocked by the static
dust on the ground, the endless black
within canyons of Mars, of methane in Neptune,
Are we being watched?
Through the telescope lens, an opposite eye appears
Amplitude, frequency, Life, a Star?
An explosion...
The ants look up into the blue, space is beyond conceptual.
The Men stare longingly into the depths of this space,
What could lie beyond it seems illogical.
Earth, the Universe
where eccentric souls reside in the Sea
there they exist in cosmic abundance
only to emerge when most needed by we.
Yet not once in all eternity, in all of ancient history
has a Man truly walked within their incredible halls
or even within their own shrouded cerebral mysteries.
A mind is wasted
A terrible thing
Alas is me,
I am Human.
