RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Moral Objection to School Project

For one of my projects for school (worth 15% of my final mark in my careers class Cuckoo ) I have to forge a document that looks like a university diploma Wtf I have decided that for this assignment I have a moral objection to this part of the assignment, and will not do it, no matter what my teacher says.My parents will probably agree with me, but it is very annoying that they expect us to do this with no objections! It doesn't even really relate to the assignment in the first place

Re: Moral Objection to School Project

Wait, what? What kind of assignment is that? What kind of class is this for?

Though I don't see anything morally wrong with forging a university diploma if you're not going to use it to apply for a job, I can see why you'd refuse to do it.

Re: Moral Objection to School Project

Sounds like a stupid assignment, honestly. That's kindergarten shit. What use is forging a diploma going to be? Some kind of motivation to go to college? That's really condescending to those who've decided that college isn't for them. Ask your teacher if you can do an alternate assignment of more substance, if you care about the grade.

Re: Moral Objection to School Project

The fuck? Not that I find this morally objectionable (I don't really have morals in the traditional sense anyway) but that's just a downright weird assignment. You should take this to a higher up.

Re: Moral Objection to School Project

This is not my teacher's assignment. It is from the school board. Also I care about marks to the point off pass-fail, and I'm safe there, so I might not hand it in.

Also, my teacher has lost quite a few assignments I handed in, so she's convinced I'm a lazy fat ass, and will use any excuse to get out of work.

Re: Moral Objection to School Project

Take a stand, if you find it morally wrong, protest the assignment.

http://www.criminaldefenselawyer.com/cr ... uments.htm

quick site I found by simply googling "Forging documents"

and the assignment seems sketchy as hell, wanting kids to forge a university diploma seems more like testing the waters for good forgers/counterfeiters.

Make sure that you express yourself calmly and clearly, and question the reasoning/motive behind giving such an assignment.

Re: Moral Objection to School Project

I am going to protest this. I have already finished everything else, so I'll just go up and calmly explain this to my teacher, and hope I don't get in too much trouble.

Whaddabitch. Continue protesting the assignment, or at least don't do it.

Re: Moral Objection to School Project

I already handed it in, sans forged documents. And since yesterday was the last day to work on it, I'm done with it for now. Also, I'm probably safe from detention given that all the other teachers and the vice principals at my school love me.
