RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

What's the point of this planner?
So, i have my school planner and on the first page, there's a agreement i got to sign:
"I have acknowledged all the rules of the school and i engage myself to respect them"
And i got to sign. What's the point of this? We are forced to go which means i am forced to sign this agreement whether i want it or no.
The rules have 5 sections
Section 1 - Social Formation
Section 2 - School Attending
Section 3 - Rights of the students(wait what?)
Section 4 - Stuff students have to do
Section 5 - Publicity and all this shit
Wow, we have RIGHTS???6112213214
WRONG! A great part of section 3 is negated by the other sections. You basically have the right to receive an education, the right to free speech and free opinion AS LONG as you respect the other rules, just look at rule 14:
14. The student who, repeatedly, trouble the order during his classes or during activities or that manifests an attitude of laziness or negligence will see it's case submitted for a study to fix the situation fast. To this end, a meeting Teacher-Student-School staff-Principals-Parents could be envisaged.

It's just one of the many brainwashing techniques they attempt to use in order to keep you in line. Just blow that shit off.

Re: What's the point of this planner?
Does it say "to be signed as is" anywhere on it? In my new job I have to deal with waivers a lot and I know we have to specify that somewhere on the legal document because if we didn't, people could cross out and intitial things they didn't agree to.
Just saying.
If you wanted to write a huge paper and refute it, that sounds fantastic.
If you want to bitch about it without much of an argument, then meh.

Are you saying that without the "to be signed as is", people could basically change it to what ever they want?

We're forced to sign it as a homework or they call out parents and give us detentions, they also tell us to read it to be sure there's not catch in it

I'm saying you can cross out what you don't agree to and initial it and sign the paper, yes.
I don't think you can add things in however. I think that would normally require authorization on the other party's part.

Re: What's the point of this planner?
I would sign it to avoid trouble. If you get in trouble because of it, or it is mentioned by someone who is using it as an excuse to punish you(Well, you signed this...), tell them that you only signed it under duress.

Re: What's the point of this planner?
That's one of my biggest pet peeves of school. Why sign something when you don't have a choice either way? What's the fucking point of even having to sign that piece of crap?
