RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

worst teacher ever?

I'm in my senior year of High School, and I'm graduating early (in December, instead of May) so i'm taking a bunch of hard as shit classes (Trigonometry, which i suck at math, AP Environmental Science, which isn't that bad, and then a college government class, which gives us a college credit and looks really sexy for colleges if we pass it)

The college government class is a a college class, so it's supposed to be difficult. BUT, the teacher I have could be the dumbest teacher I have ever had.

She looks extremely confused and looks like shes about to strangle herself because she obviously doesn't want to be there. We usually do something, she says it's not working, then we sit and talk with our friends for like an hour, at least (the period is an hour and like twenty minutes of bullshitting). If she actually is kind of coherent, we take notes off a power point presentation for the entire class. She seems retarded, almost.

But the thing is, she is extremely nice, and a kid could easily take advantage of her, because she wouldn't know how to handle it. I feel really sorry for her, in a way.

Even though I don't mind sitting and talking to my friends in the class for an hour, I took the class to pass and get a college credit, and I have a feeling (and just about everyone else in the class does too) that I'm going to fail the class due to the teacher being a horrid teacher.

Anyone else have really crappy teachers like this?

Re: worst teacher ever?

What are the chances of you failing. You say its easy to take advantage of her, go all out and do it. Who wouldnt? Talk to her after school, ask her if she needs help cleaning up the class etc etc. Thats all you got to do my friend.

Yeah, I've had those before.

But I passed every one. Razz

I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

I'm honored.

Wikipedia Wrote:Nerd is a term often bearing a derogatory connotation or stereotype, that refers to a person who passionately pursues intellectual activities, esoteric knowledge, or other obscure interests that are age inappropriate rather than engaging in more social or popular activities. Therefore, a nerd is often excluded from physical activity and considered a loner by peers, or will tend to associate with like-minded people.

Re: worst teacher ever?

In my state, if you take one of those college classes in high school, you have to take an exam and pass to get the college credit. So if she isn't teaching you guys anything and a test is the difference between college credit and just a HS credit, she needs to get her act together.

Or maybe you could pursue a bit on your own. Like if you know what you were last talking talking about/taking notes on, just read a bit more about it or something.

My posts are usually lengthy, and I can't help it much... Sorry.

Re: worst teacher ever?

I'm pretty sure for ALL a.p. (College) courses have a test at the end of the year.
AP classes have a national curriculum.
