RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

I'm doing everyone's Latin h/w

so someone else is doing maths I figure my latin is good enough. So any translations (below AS level) I will do. And please do not ask for the translation of Catullus' "To Lesbia about Kisses" because it is avilable in all good bookstores, school libraries and ... the internet.

I will also do the pointless grammar exercises and what not. The only thing I can't do is memorize your vocab.

COMMUNISM is when you have two cows, the governement takes both and gives you the milk
SOCIALISM is when you have two cows and give one to your neighbour.
NEW DEALISM (is when things go wrong) is when you have two cows, the government takes both, shoots one and milks the other but then throws the milk away.
CAPITALISM is when you have two cows and then sell one to buy a bull.
FACISM is when you have two cows, the government takes both and sells you the milk.
NAZISM is when you have two cows, the government takes both and shoots you.

I typed: "end of the world" into google and saw the hiroshima bombing and 9/11, irony much.

be very careful about doing peoples' homework. some of them might expect you to make a habit out of it and won't take no for an answer. if it's just on this forum it's no problem, but doing it for people you know in real life is a bad idea. i would know.

I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.
The quickest way to kill a revolution is to wait for it.

Re: I'm doing everyone's Latin h/w

Do you know "odi et amo" by Catullus?

If so, please help! If not here it is...

odi et amo. quare id faciam, fortasse requiris?
nescio, sed fieri sentio et excrucior.

I hate and I love. How do I do you may inquire.
I do not know. But I feel it is done and I am tortured (on the rack)

excrucior as you probably know had it's meaning altered twice.

Re: I'm doing everyone's Latin h/w

are you still doing this? Because if you are I have a back log, please help!!!

Caecilius, aquam ad villam portans, cedidit.
vidistine canem e villa currentem?
puella clamoribus militium pugnantium territa est.

Horatia a matre excitata ad nuptias se paravit.
Flaccus, tumultibus territus, domum ire constituit.
Decimus ad casam ab amicis ductus, Horatiam exspectabat.
multi amici ad nuptias vocati, ad casam laeti venerunt.
Scintilla epistolam a Flacco scriptam celeriter legit.
iuvenes libros a Cratippo laudatos emerunt.
puellae, clamoribus militium pugnantium territae, domum manebant.
Caesar a coniuratis occisus, prope statuam Pompeii iacebat.

Re: I'm doing everyone's Latin h/w

fragile_esteem has left, unfortunately. You'd be best of making a new topic for it.

PROTIP: Look for individual words you know and work on that.

Re: I'm doing everyone's Latin h/w

Latin is awesome.

The Romans would hate decyphering our Latin though. Roman Latin had apices and sicilicus over the letters, modern Latin has commas and periods, semi colons and things the Romans would have seen as pointless.

Good, can you translate this into latin?

Celebrating A Rich Heritage:

In 1925, CBC was started through the vision of Pastor Ludvig Lunde. Tent meetings were held with famous Bible preachers such as Oscar Lowry, H.A. Ironside, Dr. R. L. Moyer, Vance Havner, C.T. Dryness, L.E. Maxwell, R.G. LeTourneau, Walter L. Wilson, Dr. William Pettingill, Dr. Norman B. Harrison and many others. Over the years the ministry has expanded to include year-around ministry to all age groups.

Ministry Opportunities:

CBC offers many retreats throughout the year - Men's, Father & Son, Junior and Senior High, Mother & Daughter, Women's, Pastors' Thanksgiving, Singles, Dad & Daughter, New Year's Family Retreat, July and Labor Day Family Camps, and opportunities for your church to host its own retreats.

Ministry Expansion:

Every year we desire to develop different aspects of our facility to better meet the needs of those to whom we minsiter. In 2002 we added an office & welcome center and multi-purpose building. The multi-purpose building features and air-conditioned gymnasium, large meeting room, restrooms for the east cabins, etc. More exciting changes are in the works.

@ Paper Cuts

I can't find the Latin word for "air-conditioned".

WTF, seriously, what was the point of that copy-paste post?
