RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Has anyone died in your school?

I'm not only talking abut this year, but all the previous years you've been in school whether it was elementary, middle, or high.

Also, this thread isn't meant to laugh about it or think that it's "cool", just in case someone thinks that's why I'm doing this. I'm just curious.

In my new school, 2 teachers have died, one from cancer and one from heart problems.

At my old school, 3 students died in the same year.
1 drowned in the school pool (our school got sued), 1 got shot, and 1 died in a car accident.

In middle school, some guy I actually knew got run over by a truck over summer break.
I feel like a douche bag because the last thing I did to him was give him the finger as a joke.
I'm so nice, I know. Noo

Re: Has anyone died in your school?

Not that I know of, but since my school is like 100 years give or take 56 years old, It obviously has had to have happened at least once there.

The only good signature is a dead signature.

One guy died of asthma attack in 8th grade.

Now I only wish that all those I hated in school would've died instead. I'd rejoice.

Re: Has anyone died in your school?

When I was in 5th grade a 3rd grade boy drowned. I remember being sad when I heard about it, though I didn't know the kid.

I haven't heard of anyone in my HS or MS dying, except years before I went a girl who went to my current HS died of Meningitis. I don't care very much, but then again I have only heard it in passing. :/

It must've been horrible. I've nearly drowned twice before the swimming pool at my school. Once I was on the deep end and I thought I can swim there without equipment because I was lucky enough to do it once before. BAD mistake. I sank and I tried doing the kangaroo kick.

I didn't even get any help from the supposed "life guards" on duty. Nearly blacked out. If I did that, it would've been a done deal.

Nowadays you'll never find me in a pool without equipment again.

Re: Has anyone died in your school?

At least one kid dies every year that is either in our school currently or graduated. It's usually a car accident, usually involving alcohol.

Re: Has anyone died in your school?

The year before I went to my high school, when I was in 8th grade, a white boy named Jeremy stabbed a hmong boy named John. They got into a fight after Jeremy, who was a crack head- literally, was calling John racial slurs. (Just so you know how sensitive John is, he punched my brother in the face and broke his front tooth because my brother looked him straight in the eyes, it was Nick's first week in school in La Crosse, after her moved in with us from my Dads (La Crosse has a large Hmong population, largest in Wisconsin)

Well, yeah, John got stabbed like 9 times, in one of the hallways. You can still see the blood stains, actually. John lived, but was in the hospital for a long while, and Jeremy got 15 years (But he was killed by one of John's relatives in jail (John has very scary, mean relatives, lots of murderers)

A boy that I played soccer with every recess was drowned in the school pool one year... well, someone drowned him. But we were all like... 9. So the girl just went to a mental hospital for 3 years. I think when she got out she killed a little girl by cutting her stomach open with scissors, but ok.

My friend Desi's sister was strangled by a girl she knew in the bathroom in my middle school.

An 8th grader who was mad at her boyfriend, took her boyfriend's little brother, a 5th grader, into one of the bathrooms and raped him, which included sodomizing him with a pen... well, uncapped pen. I think that happened when I was in 5th grade. (Middle school where I lived then was 5-8th grade)

A boy at a high school, about 10 miles from La Crosse, strangled one of his teachers because he wanted to fuck her and she wouldn't.

I think that's about it....

Re: Has anyone died in your school?

One of my friend's older brothers committed suicide during his senior year.

I use the term "friend" somewhat loosely. I didn't really like anyone at that school. But we made conversation and he took to bugging me about being weird and liberal and interesting and antisocial. So I had some affection for the kid. He had a sense of humor.

It was hard to watch him lose some of that humor with news of his brother. I was sitting next to him when he got called to the office where he was probably told. Announcements were made, support was offered.

He was like one of our star swimmers or something like that. One of those people who you don't expect to be depressed because they seemingly have everything.

Let's do the time warp again!

A lot of people died mentally in my school, yes.

And those who died physically, died out of the school at lunch or during breaks.

Re: Has anyone died in your school?

Mentally, i think everyone who set foot in the place.

Emotionially, yes, most of the people who set foot in the place.

Physically, one as far as I know. A kid went into the bathroom and slit his own throat with scissors. guess what his suicide note said it was because of. Yep, school. And nobody seemed to look into the reasons, even though there they were, blood stained, crumpled, yet screaming the reasons throughout the halls. School. He said that he wasn't getting anywhere, no one gave a shit, and school wasn't worth throwing his life away for. And on the first day of school, someone put a (fake, thank god) skeleton in someone's locker who i knew, scared the poor bastard half to death. Bigeek He passed out. I actually saw some of the teachers snickering, if they did it (which I highly suspect now) they ought to be killed. Ranting

And that's it. Oh and it's elem. and middle i'm talking about here.

Re: Has anyone died in your school?

When I was in 4th Grade an 8th Grader attempted suicide because there was a sex tape of her on the internet. She failed and was sent to Maine to go to some sort of special school

When I a Freshman a Senior died from cocaine, did it stop the rest of the Senior year taking coke? No. At my brothers' school (our schools have some co-ed classes together like gym and er... that's about it) a guy took an overdose of coke because of the girl that died accidentally from coke.

And when I was in 7th Grade, a Junior or Sophmore, can't remember, left school with an eating disorder and nobody's seen her since. She was a very close friend of one of my brother's but her family moved about 6 months after she left, he tried calling them but they kept hanging up on him.

Re: Has anyone died in your school?

It think it was last year when I was still in middle school this one kid in the high school overdosed on some pills to, they say, commit suicide.

And on time a few years back at one of the elementary schools a little girl got ran over by a school bus(I think, I am not very good at memory and she may have been in a different school district).
Not to mention various bicycle and four-wheeler accidents.

Other than that not much, a lot of the stuff you guys are talking about creep me out. A lot.

Has anyone died in your school?

In my school, one of the math teachers has died, but that was before I even became a Year 7 student and went to that school. In Year 7 on a Car Boot Sale/Family Fun Day, a teacher told me about that. She didn't tell me how this math teacher died though.

Has anyone died in your school?

Back in early 2015, when we were all around 13, two kids from my school drowned in the nearby lake. They were brother and sister. Although I never spoke to him much, I knew the brother. He was in my Drama/History classes. I remember it being on the radio/news station for days afterwards, and the school held a big assembly in their memory.

Apparently, the boy went paddling, and got stranded when he went too deep. His sister, who was a few years older, went in after him as an act of bravery, despite the fact she couldn't swim. She was also stranded. What made it worse was the fact that their family had been nearby the whole time, but it was too late when they realised what was happening. They were already under the surface. It was really sad.

A lot of us would hang out by the lake when school was out, but after that incident, everyone just stopped going. It just doesn't feel right there anymore. But I guess some good came out of it, because no one dares to swim in that death trap these days.
