RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

I've been pondering these for a while, so here goes:

There is no "sanctity of life." Yes, I stole that idea from George Carlin, but I did think about it. Why is it that humans have the right to live and we're so much better than other creatures on this planet? This is why I'm also pro-choice, though I'm not sure I'd get pregnant just to have an abortion. So no life is sacred; it's just this feeling of unwarrented self importance our species has placed on itself. Humans are so self-important, yet we make up a small fraction of a percent in the infiinite universe.

I don't really believe in my country. As much as our schools here in the US tell me America is the greatest country in the world and how lucky I am to live here and how I shouldn't even think of moving someplace else or learning about another culture, I don't buy it. Lewis Black even said that he noticed America is the only country that actually thinks it's the greatest in the world. Don't get me wrong, I like my country, but not so much I couldn't move.

I don't really believe world peace is achievable. Let's face it; humans are warlike. We want more, we still live on basic primitive instincts even though we're supposedly "advanced" and "evolved." Organized religion has not helped us with this one. I want a world where we can civilly discuss our views and think about things instead of using force and violence to achieve our goals, but it doesn't seem like anything but an asymptote we can only approach rather than actually achieve. But I could be wrong.

I'm obviously anti-school. I used to be the extreme opposite, actually, and this was not too long ago. :<_<: Let's say about 2 years ago, I ate all the bullshit the school system fed me. I used to believe that making a high SAT score, making good grades, following the rules to have "good conduct," and "being a leader" were the only important things. Then I started to think. I let my curiosity get the better of me, so I started to take risks, starting with reading banned books to sneaking out of my parents house to looking up different artists, comedians, writers and such with different viewpoints on life. I was shocked that a lot of their points made sense, yet my school had completely condemned their views. Basically, all of this gave me a greater love for real learning that goes beyong becoming valedictorian or some shit.

And I'm anti-religion. I'm obviously in the minority in America. I'm not an atheist because I do believe in some kind of life force, but in America, atheists make up 10% of the population. Atheists are restricted from running for public office in some states, running for president, and joining the Boy/Girl Scouts. There are also blue laws that restrict people from doing certain things on "holy days" simply because of someone else's belief. I was raised Catholic, but since my parents aren't religious, they didn't make a big deal if I didn't attend mass. However, they sent me to a Catholic school to learn morals. Yeah, the morals that tell us it's okay to be elitist about our beliefs and condemn those that don't see things our way since "we have the truth of Jesus Christ, and the rest of the world is confused." And "Christians are persecuted." Bullshit. Christian churches hold a lot of wealth, they pay no taxes, and they have a big-ass influence in politics and a lot of important decisions. Now, I know the majority of Christians are decent people, but I'm tired of them claiming persecution and how their beliefs aren't heard in today's world. I know their bullshit; I hear it every day I go to school.

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

Let's start this over.

First and foremost, I'm a communist, of the Trotskyist tendency. What does that mean I believe?

-Democracy in not just the workplace, but in even aspect of the government.
-I believe the government should be destroyed, completly toppled over, along with the rest of the capitalist system, and replaced with a worker's state.
-I believe that eventually the state will become useless, and we can finally live in a stateless, classless, and moneyless society.
-I believe in the abolition of ageism, sexism, racism, Fascism, classism, and every other form of discrimination.
-I believe that the communist system should be used worldwide.
-I believe that the USSR and Mao's China and similar countries were not socialist or communist.
-I support Socialist Alternative,Socialist Party USA, and all working class organizations.
-I believe in the working class.
-Capitalism has killed more people than socialism, communism, and anarchism combined. This is a fact.
-Anyone who calls capitalism freedom should go work in a sweatshop in China.
-Socialism can work.
And now everything else:

-I believe humanity is mostly good or can be.
-Abrahamic religions are bullshit.
-School-survival sucks now, especially with all the new members.
-Glenn Beck sucks 100 balls.

"I heard a joke once. Man goes to doctor says "I'm terribly depressed". Doctor says "I know just what you should do. Poliacci the clown is in town, go see him, you'll be cheered right up." The man bursts into tears. "But Doctor, I am Poliacci." Funny joke. Roll on snare drum. Everyone laugh."

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

My most controversial opinions?

Anti Stereotyping and discrimination.. Racism, Religious Intolerance, Ageism, Adultism, etc.
Individualism- As in seeing the good in everyone, second chances, etc.
Against any forced institutions. Public schools, boot camps, death camps, etc...
Pro Youth Rights
Pro Human Rights

These are more about personal choice:
Strong believer in Unconditional Love (Love > Romance, lust, jealously, etc)
There is a God (And also a huge difference between extremism and personal choice)
Staying away from sexual activities (Personal reasons, I only think it is good for pro-creation.)

Now, I guess I am also anti abortion- this falls into my Individualist beliefs. We were all fetuses before- New life. We can be "aborted" for not being fully developed?

Of course, there are more beliefs that I have.

Oh, and Swift:
Though some of my posts are not politically charged and I can't really get out what I feel, that doesn't make me ignorant.

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

Well when I grow up I want to be a politician. I know I may not fit in by saying this but -- I am a Fascist.
Yes, I believe in a totalitarian militaristic government that influences the citizens with ultra-nationalism

BUT! Don't judge, let me say this:
Just because I believe in a totalitarian government doesn't mean I go around telling people want to do whether they like it or not. A Fascist leader has to be charismatic - liked by his people. It DOES NOT take away the freedom of the individual, in the past it was very strict I understand, but if I rose to power I would give citizens rights and free speech. And a Fascist is not a Racist. We don't go around saying "FUCK xxx", we believe in the preservation of the worlds beautiful cultures and keep them seperate, so we learn from each other, instead of mixing together.

I got a feeling I'm going to be called Hiter or Mussolini from now on, but I don't follow neither of them Razz

Now, bag the hell out of me Biggrin

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

This seems as good a time as any to update my list.

-The best way to deal with Glenn Beck is to arm the progressives and shoot back at any Tea Partiers who try to break our windows. Enough of this "reaching across the aisle" bullshit.

-Anarcho-communism can work if enough people support it and the collectives are kept small enough.

-The issue of teen boot camps can never be resolved peacefully.

-There are three kinds of people: leaders, followers, and independents. Independents must be preserved, followers are expendable, and leaders must be actively eradicated.

-Because fascism models society after a single organism, with citizens mindlessly fulfilling the roles of cells and organs, fascists can't be considered true human beings. Killing a fascist isn't any worse than scraping off a few skin cells (sorry Efstratios, but remember the title of the thread).

-If you use alcohol to have sex with someone, you are a rapist. Period.

-The death penalty is bad because it puts too much power in the government's hands. However, ordinary citizens should be allowed to kill murderers and rapists if they catch them in the act and can prove it.

-Anyone who truly considers himself a liberal should oppose gun control. To do otherwise is hypocritical and dangerous.

-Slavery is a worse crime than murder, because a slave can be used as a tool by the slaver to harm even more people.

-Vegans are fucking retarded. Eat organic meat if you don't want to support the corporations, but for Christ's sake get some goddamn protein into you.

-Even if scientists were able to prove that there is a strong, incontrovertible link between violent videogames and real-world crime, they still shouldn't be censored.

-Nobody has the right to be wealthy when others are starving. If they won't give up some of their excess money to help the poor, than the working class should take it by force.

-We shouldn't withdraw from Afghanistan, because unlike Iraq, the Taliban actually did help cause 9/11.

I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.

I think a (balanced) vegan diet is usually pretty healthy, as long as you take a vitamin B-12 supplement.

So what's your real problem with it?

"Do we treat straight public sex differently than we do gay public sex? Of course. Straight people are so proud of their public sex that they named a cocktail after it."

This.

It's uber healthy, though, it makes more sense to just eat a small amount of meat along with it.

- People should have a right to die

- Once a whore is always a whore

- If you're not first, don't usually expect to be last

- Alcohol used in anything but medicine is retarded

- Psychiatry is a 100% scam while Scientology ruins the claim by agreeing (fuckers)

- No school is ever needed, voluntary or not

- Sex drive is a fossil feature in beings capable of love

- 90% of the humanity is a bunch of expendable clones or abusive leaders and I wouldn't mind them dead

- Money fails big time, it's a flawed system

- College is retarded

- So is 'socialization' done for the hell of it

- Niggers shouldn't flip out if someone calls them that

- Ageism grows mostly from hateful, unhealthy envy

- Spirits/gods - yes, organized religion/sect - hell no, everyone should find the truth themselves (98% of people are lazy turds so they turn to religion)

- I believe in honor, and fighting to the death rather than running

- No life is better than a generic, boring life

- We're so heavily overpopulated that sterilization after childbirth should be a necessity (want more, then adopt you fucktards)

- A man can be a testosterone pack and still be nice so stick your excuses for retardation up your centipede filled ASS

- Speaking of a man's pride, it should be being a bad enough dude to do everything for a female, not to make one do everything for you

- Duels to death under mutual agreement should be allowed

- Oil powered vehicles are retarded

- Spam (irrelevant ads, toolbars and spam sneaked into software, domain parking, search result sites, excessive tagging, trading emails and phone numbers) should be prohibited by law and v& as much as CP is.

- 'Bout child porn, people should focus on fighting the source rather than end users who might as well be accidental (look: last failbook drama)

- Google is awesome, their subdivisions not so much

- Oldfag chivalry behavior contains quite some win.

- A broken heart does not heal, to claim so is fooling yourself or not caring in the first place

- You don't get over any loss, time just fucks you up even more

- I would gladly torture for eternity all of the propagators of spoiled teen relationshit, 'party hard' and high school drama lifestyle.

- No, it's not fucking normal, it's not a part of growing up, it's not healthy, it's not natural, it's not necessary, it's not 'fun', it's not anything to be proud of.

- Seduction for profit isn't 'clever sex exploitation lifestyle', it's plain disgusting whoring.

- One is able to face the world alone if the goal's rewarding enough

- Love is mutual giving, not mutual taking

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

You know, for someone who thinks psychiatry isn't real, you have many opinions about how the human mind works. You do realize that psychiatry is just a developing field of science and can't be judged based on the fact that there are corrupt psychiatrists, right? It's like saying that aviation is evil because governments have used it to make bombers.
It's your opinion though. I'm just giving my 2cents

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

Only a small part of psychiatry tortures people for profit, but the rest is still guilty of changing people's behavior without their consent (what I consider as immoral as censorship or rape), being our little mind police, calling 'sick' anyone standing out of line, or simply scamming into 'therapy' which is basically small talk for big bucks, making money for free just like homeopathy does. And I yet have to see a psychiatrist who isn't a raging defender of conformity, and things as they currently are. Wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have legally the power to label you with a disease for the rest of your life, and extract money from your insurance or even kick you to a kind of brainwashing program, or damage your brain on purpose with psychotropes so you won't cause trouble. Most of that happens only because the DSM says so, or because the 'doctor' doesn't like your behavior, yet the law gives him a legal right to play god and manipulate you.

Read some of this, will ya.

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

Oh, I'm not saying that psychiatry hasn't been exploited as a tool of control by governments, schools and pharmaceutical corporations. But that's like blaming the gun instead of the shooter. What about the people who are actually mentally ill, who literally can't stand living with their condition and want to be cured? It's not quite fair to leave them with nothing just because you're angry at a third party who's taking advantage of the whole exchange.
It sounds like you want psychiatric reform, and if you do, the I'm totally behind you on that. They shouldn't be allowed to treat you without consent (unless you've just skinned someone and eaten their liver to stop the CIA from getting into your head just like they did to JFK, or something along those lines), and the diagnosis of things like depression and ADHD should have input from the patient. But to just say "psychiatry is evil" is to condemn an entire field of medicine and it seems pretty narrow-minded and irrational to me. People used to use Darwin's theory to justify racism. Does that mean that anti-racists should have called the study of evolution bullshit pseudo-science?

I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.
The quickest way to kill a revolution is to wait for it.

No, no matter how you look at it it's a mildly poisonous substance that affects judgement. If you need it to have fun, you're pretty much a boring turd.

Problem, officer?

Y'know, I could say the same about things like chocolate, or soda, or cigarettes, but I don't. Just because you have had bad experiences with it, doesn't mean that everyone who has ever had a little beer is doomed to become an alcoholic who beats his family (which is exactly what school tells you).

Chocolate or soda isn't poison, cigs are and harm others greatly, guess where I got my awesome short breath and weak heart from?

Health nuts would tell you differently.

Once again, this all comes down to the person smoking them.

Chocolate is a great source of magnesium, your argument is invalid.

Then they're harming themselves over a habit that feels good only because you relieve it, and end up funding the industry and further propagation of such faggotry. (pun intended)

As long as you don't get drunk, it isn't bad at all in my opinion. Alcohol is not like tobacco.

Chocolate does not appear to be a vegetable sandwich with whole wheat bread to them, therefore your argument is invalid.

Wait, I'm the one smoking cigarettes now?
