RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. Send me a message if you'd like to keep in touch with me & Steve.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

1.Adolf Hitler cannot be blamed for everything that happened in Nazi Germany...He's become a figurehead.

2.Abortions should be totally legal since if Mccain wins no abortions for people who have been raped.

3.Charles Manson isnt THAT evil

4.Metallica now copy paste every album

5.All Sexual Fetishes/Kinks are NOT wrong unless they harm someone or animals

6.People who believe in Manly Man values with towel wacking and football playing and gay bashing should be destroyed

7.Religion's just keep free thinkers such as Satanists more reason to follow their own rules

The World seemed to all make sense but that sense seemed to slowly fade now in 11th grade

agreed. Also, a take on the manly man values... I think people shouldn't be genderized. Just because you're a girl doesn't mean you should like pink, just because you're a guy doesn't mean you can't cry, you know, bullshit like that.

You can call me Ruki
Or Captain Ruki
Or Captain K. Ruki
Or Captain Katiakicz

Because you're young, there's advice from everyone
Although we're free, chains await for you and me...

My most controversial opinion? I guess that child porn isn't such a big fucking deal. And that I have no qualms with smoking a cigarette or health. So yeah, that's real fucking controversial. I need to die.

Wait, WHAT?

McCain is against abortion and he's going to make it illegal all over the US?
If that's true, FUCK HIM! WITH SOMETHING LONG AND HARD!

Edit: never mind, I just read an article about him on abortion, and he said rape, incest, etc. are exceptions.

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

I completely agree with everything you say, except I very much want to have sex. You sound like a smart person, It often frustrates me at just how closed minded and simplistic many people are. By simplistic I mean that they don't think about the big picture, never dwelling on anything of importance, but spending all their time thinking about in the end really insignificant things. I also do agree that religion is false. I think it is merely wishful thinking. Religion makes people feel better about death, about trouble they may face in their life and about all the uncertainties of life. People are afraid of the unknown. The cold hard facts are that we don't know what happens to you when you die, we don't know how life came into being and we don't know why it came into being at all in the first place. Put simply religion is wishful thinking adding meaning, comfort and answers to life, but unfortunately it is false. It shocks me how people can really truly believe in a religion, it is so clearly a man made comfort. Inventing, as I will say, a religion is much easier than you may think. Scientists have found evidence of many, many other religions throughout human history. Human's have most likely been inventing religions for hundreds of thousands of years, becoming more complex as human's brains grew. For example before the christian religion came around, the Roman's already had a very secure religion in place, they only chose to adopt christianity because of the values it held such as god deciding their places in society and such. Basically religion is false and School really, really sucks; which I am attending at the moment currently in year 9. That's all from me, thanks or listening

Actually, to be against people not having that right is about as anti-freedom as you can get.
If that person wants only blacks, whites, hispanics, etc. on his property; he has every right to do it. It is his property. What makes you so high and mighty as to force your morals on him?

How do you NOT know it's false? How is mythology false? Why do people not believe in that anymore? It's the same thing as religion nowadays.

I think he typed a perfect post. Yes, we don't know how life came into being, etc. And I love this:

Quote:People are afraid of the unknown.

That is EXACTLY right. If you walk up to a gate and there's a sign that says "Danger: Do not enter", you'd be afraid of entering. You don't know what's in there.

Religion is man-made. They made it so they could answer questions like "what happens when people die" or "how was the earth made", and so on. The answers the Bible provides for those questions are simply things people WANT to hear. Like going to heaven after you die. This is not true. And I'm 100% sure of it. I don't know why, but I just am. Because it makes perfect sense. The majority of people cannot deal with things like death. They're afraid of it. They're afraid of what they don't know and they simply need answers to go on with their sad pathetic lives not worrying about it. Science on the other hand, doesn't give you a false answer, but tries to give you an idea of what something is and how that something works. If a scientist doesn't know something, they simply accept it as a mystery and try to find as much as they can about it, not make up some stupid answer like "sky daddy waves his magic wand and POOF, there was the earth". That's ridiculous. Yeah, I exaggerated a bit on that quote, but you know what I mean. But seriously, science doesn't TRY to answer things like what happens after death. Because like dutto42, WE DON'T KNOW! And we'll NEVER find out, because when we do find out, we'd be dead already. People have to face the fact that death is the end of life. There's nothing scary about it. It happens. Just SHUT THE FUCK UP AND MOVE ON (not directed to anyone, but people in general).

I might as well say I believe in mermaids. I'm sure I'll have people thinking I'm crazy. But how's that different from saying you believe in god?

Anyway, point made. I don't need to go any further.

i see where you're coming from and i agree...to an extent. if someone owns a house or a small business and they don't want black people on it, fine. they're an asshole but fine. however, once that business grows into a major corporation and he starts gaining large amounts of land, i think he's obligated to allow equal access. after all, if all major corporations started doing this, how would it be any different than government-sanctioned segregation? if people are being discriminated against on a national scale, does it really matter whether it's the government or private institutions that are doing it? if you can gain the "right" to things that the government isn't allowed to do just by getting rich, then it seems like capitalism can be used as just a loophole to totalitarionism.

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

Most likely people would be appalled at the segregation and wouldn't go there. Also, it would be handicapped because of the segregation.

That chances of the business, in today's first world, becoming national is slim to none.

But if it did, I'd have to respect the owner's descision, but I wouldn't shop there. I'd probably protest it.

OK, if you take 'religion' in a sense that it claims to be right, then yes, it is false. At least, all but one of them has to be false. And the last one could be false too, but there's no way to know which are false and which are not and whether or not the last one even is false. Anybody who claims to be right is probably wrong, just because they think they know something for sure. That applies both to religions and to anyone who claims religion to be false.

Actually, I just realized I'm using 'religion' almost as a synonym for 'spirituality', which is not a good thing at all. There may very well be something after death, and that may be what inspired people to start religions, and then the religions got big and organized and that ruined it. I don't know. But writing off the possibility of there being more to life than just physical stuff, just 'cause most of the people who believe in it aren't very smart, doesn't seem like a good idea either. Believing in the existence of things that go beyond the physical aren't necessarily just for the sake of comfort. It's actually interesting stuff to study and experiment with.

OK, so that went slightly off topic but who cares? It's another controversial opinion, so deal with it Smile

While I'm at it though, let's add this:

Why do people want to believe that there's nothing more to life than the physical, and that you just live, die and then rot? I mean, sure, that's fine, but then people who believe that seem to be very defensive about it, almost like they have a problem with people who are genuinely enjoying not agreeing with it. Almost like they have a problem with people who enjoy life in general. Almost like they want life to be some mundane torture that everyone has to go through and then be 'relieved' when they die and get eaten by worms. I just don't get it.

(time to eat, might refine this later)

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

I never said that just because past religions were proved to be wrong that it must mean the same thing for present religions. It was merely an example that supported my opinion.

And of course there's a way to know which are false and which aren't. None of the claims in Christianity for example have any evidence. None whatsoever. You know why? Because there is none. There's no hell, there's no heaven, there's no god. It's real in people's minds, but not in real life.

I don't find LYING to myself to be very interesting. Now, I don't know about you or anyone else, but if that's the way you feel, suit yourself.

I'm one of those people, as you may have noticed, and I'm sure you said it because I came off as being such a person. I don't necessarily want to believe it. It's just the way it is. Did you think I wanted to accept the fact that there was no god? No, it was very hard for me. But I'm not going to just shrug off the truth just because I feel more secure BELIEVING in one. And I don't have a problem with people who enjoy life. Sorry, but that's kind of...ignorant. Who said I didn't enjoy life? I do enjoy it and certainly don't want it to be "mundane torture". It's not about wanting though. It's about the way it is. Life DOES suck. Who here can tell you: my life so far has been excellent, not one bad thing has happened to me and I WANNA LIVE FOREVER IN A HUGE DANDELION FIELD SKIPPING WITH WHITE BUNNIES AND LOOKING AT RAINBOWS!!! LIKE OMIGOSH!

Honestly people, look at the facts. There's no purpose to life. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy those fun moments while they last.

Because it goes something like this: you're born, you live, and then you die.
Now tell me why life is so important when everything will eventually end.

Re: What are some of your most controversial opinions?

My rambling wasn't directed at you Smile (or anyone in particular for that matter, just every now and then people say stuff along those lines, or at least that's the impression I get)

Lack of evidence doesn't mean it isn't real. Though I don't particularly care for the concept of heaven and hell, I have seen and experienced things that have convinced me there's definitely more to life than the physical. Like telepathy and psychic stuff, and knowing things before they happen... stuff like that. That's what I meant when I said it's interesting to experiment with. It may even be useful... well, if I had more control over it anyways. But hey, not everyone experiences that stuff, so it's easy to say it doesn't exist 'cause you've never seen any evidence to suggest it does. But if there is no "scientific" explanation for why these things work (for some people at least), maybe there is something spiritual behind it? I'll probably never know for sure, but that doesn't make me any less curious.

That's why it's important to enjoy it as much as possible while you can... Smile
