RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.
Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

We lost Vietnam cuz we didn't train our soldiers to quickscope.

Their are only an x number of jobs and so many people with degrees that some people simply have to fail and the ones that failed are ignored and unmentioned by the delusional society.
As a general rule, people who go to school make more money, at least now. It is getting harder and harder to find jobs that don't require a degree in something.

That's more of just a politically correct statement.
People with their own trade make more than people with college degree without all the debt and their are jobs that require degrees but most of them all want tons of experience and with so many people with degrees now it pretty much lowered the value of the degree itself.
I wish it was just politically correct, but legal requirements are getting stricter. Even though school is useless as everyone in the system knows, even if they won't admit it.

Trust me I know.
Busted my ass to get my high school diploma(Even worse than worthless with a little thanks to bush) and did some college.
There aren't very many good jobs out there, but there are still some strange legal requirements out there for people. You're 22? For some reason I thought you were younger, mayber 16 or 17, I don't know why though

Been here since I was 15 and in high school and I've always kept up a cheerful whimsical sort of attitude so maybe that's it.
Also yes your right there are alot of hoops and holes they are making people jump through.
Yep, and then they claim that the better success for people who went to school is proof school works. I generally either laugh, or roll my eyes.

I disagree, unfortunately. Would that college were the path to certain, huge hoards of money, I'd go to thirteen at once. But unfortunately, people don't give a shit about college nowadays. And it's fucking awful.
Let go of all desire for the common good, and the good becomes common as grass.

Perhaps there is no end.
Most people who go to school are most likely will end up working at McDonald's, those who try to learn life lessons, and other information that will you will actually USE in life, will be the ones successful.
They give so much work, I can only relax on Sundays, because they give me homework on weekends.
