RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Not mass amounts. I just can't live with myself. I'll eat a fair amount at a time, and even then I feel like crap afterwards.

I think most candy is over rated, but some is really good. Like Zours. >_>

I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

Re: Candy: Like it or Loathe it?

Now that I think about it, I haven't really eaten candy for ages. Sure, I've eaten chocolate biscuits and plain chocolate, and a jelly bean or two, but no serious candy, since I went vegan. I just have no real desire to eat it anymore.

So yeh, I think candy is pretty overrated.

Candy sucks...You're sucking on fructose and food coloring.

Re: Candy: Like it or Loathe it?

Well, I like eating mass amounts of chocolate like Reeses and chocolate covered peanuts...

It all depends on the type of candy for me. I have a sweet tooth, but I don't like every candy there is.

Only if it's good candy, like chocolates and stuff. None of that 90% food colouring crap.

Re: Candy: Like it or Loathe it?

In the years of my childhood (< 11 years) I loved candy. I really did. I'd eat as much as I could get my hands on.

Nowadays, I still love it, but it kinda loses the point after, say 10 sour worms or a similar portion size. I just leave them for later (even if only for a few hours). And I've cut down on my candy intake for health reasons as well, as I aged into a teen I've found out the negative effects of excessive sugar on my functioning, mood, and waistline (I don't know why, but as a kid I was quite thin without any restrictions at all-I just ate what I wanted to).

So it depends on what you call "mass amounts", but I still love candy.

Don't take life so seriously, it isn't permanent.

The only "candy" I like is chocolate... I don't recall particularly liking anything else. Except maybe marshmallows...

Diabetes makes me a sad panda when I eat candy...but I get sick of the stuff after a while, so eh.

Dark chocolate FTW. And milk chocolate. And chocolate in general.

Re: Candy: Like it or Loathe it?

No, not really. I love chocolate but loathe sugary sweets, 'cause they rot your teeth, taste disgusting, and are loaded with all kinds of unatural additives. I don't eat sugary sweets at all (apart from the very occasional packet of haribos) because they make me feel sick. :(

Re: Candy: Like it or Loathe it?

skittles.

i live off skittles.

my friend bought me a large box full of skittles. about 6 large packets in there, and quite a few smaller skittle packets in there. Also, ive got random packets of skittles lying around the room in hidden places, just in case my skittle-box has been burgled. =]

i need skittles to live.

Re: Candy: Like it or Loathe it?

Although I find myself going against my indulgent nature here, I really only have candy as a desert if I can find it.

(Though I don't normally eat all that much candy on halloween, I go to the store the day after and purchase large quantities at rediculously cheap prices. Ever buy 20 bags of skittles for $2?)

About candy: I FUCKING LOVE IT!!!!!! I don't care what's in it. If you don't like it, don't eat it, and shut the fuck up. I can't stand it when I eat some candy at school or something and some health nut comes up to me and tells me how bad it is for me. I KNOW DUMBASS!!! I don't need you to tell me.

Re: Candy: Like it or Loathe it?

Candy's great but the largest binge I had was only few gummy worms and that's in the past week. I lurves me some candy, sure, but I rarely eat large amounts. See, last time I had an epic binge was on a Hershey bar and a I broke two teeth during the massacre. After that, I really never ate hard candy unless it was kind of warm.
