RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Evening

The Anti-Freedom here, a few quick things about me in convenient list form.

-I'm an anarchist.

-Because I am oppossed to all forms of order, I hate school.

-I go to one of the most authorotarian schools out there.

-I am trying to collect allies to help overthrow the Student Government, perhaps the most corrupt Student-run organizations I've ever seen. Finding people who see this is difficult.

-I'm a complete nerd.

Other than that is the same story, overbearing strict mother who won't accept anything under 90%, bullies, threats, etc.

Nice to meet you all.

Why?

(That wasn't meant to be sarcastic or rhetorical.)

Well, history shows then whenever people are given control over other people, sooner or later bad things happen.

I'm just saying why continue that process?

Because people are stupid and need to be governed. If not, we'd be a different species. Biggrin

You said opposed to order, not hierachy. I'm pretty sure a voluntary order is good.
You have to consider though that, humans are not a perfect creature. They will always fall victim to a big lie, unless omeone can show them a bigger truth(which is hard to come by, lies can just be made up). That is why government exists in its current form, that is why we are in school, and that is why for all of recorded history there has been some form of despotism.

Re: Evening

You have a point W-Dog. Didn't consider a voluntary order.

But what't to stop that voluntary order from taking control of our freedoms. Bush was 'voted' in, and he's stripped us of a lot.

Re: Evening

Nothing.
The world isn't perfect, even if we created disorder bad things would happen and eventually a new order would take hold that is most likely worse than what we have.

I'm not sure any form of governance from anarchy to monarchy will help us. Humans will be humans, good and bad, always naive.

Re: Evening

Bush,Obama, and Mcain are just puppets to distract the people. We Lost are freedom long ago when the banks got power after the Amercian civil war.

It is up to us to stop this tyranny just like the Spartan stopped Persia, like how the people stopped Alexander, like the Germans stopped Rome, and Like the Allies stopped the Third Reich

If we did it before we can do it again!

Who am I? That is irrelevant.
What am I here for? That will become apparent.
You can call me Apathy!

Welcome

I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

So, W-Dog, you are telling me, an impressionable youth, that it is hopeless, and any type of system that promises happiness is nothing but a hollow sham? Sad

An anarchist world will definitely lead either to a better system or peace with no system in my opinion, there's no getting worse than the current order certainly not with more liberal thinking. The trick is to maintain this state of anarchism long enough for people to learn they no longer need government, that is where the main issue lies.
