RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Which side of your brain are you using ?
We all know our brain is divided in 2 : the left and the right hemispheres.
The left hemisphere is used for logical, rational, scientific and mathematical decisions and thoughts while the right hemisphere is the intuitive, irational, poetic, imaginary, romantic, religious hemisphere.
Focus on the following picture
If you see the girl spinning clockwise, then you are using mostly your right side of the brain. If you see her spinning counter-clockwise then you are using the left side of the brain.
A study from the Yale University on the human brain, that lasted 5 years, showed that only 14% of the tested subjects could see her spinning in both ways and it is believed that those subjects have an IQ close to 160.

Re: Which side of your brain are you using ?
I've always seen it spinning clockwise. I'm curious as to how many people see it spinning one of the two directions or even both directions.

At first I could only see counter-clockwise, but when I tried I could make her go both.
Of course, i focused on her breasts.

Re: Which side of your brain are you using ?
At first I saw it spinning clock-wise, but after 2-3 min counter clock-wise. And that when I wasn't even focusing on it.

Edited because I can't tell directions apart. :|
Both, but counter-clockwise first. If you want to purposely make it switch, try looking at the shadows of her feet.

I doubt that, especially since the study was long enough that they probably had a relatively large sample.

Re: Which side of your brain are you using ?
Ok, first, I think, she was spinning counter clockwise but then after a while she started spinning clockwise, but this time her leg is malfunctioning and is retarded. So she is spinning clockwise with a weird leg and I can't change it
ps Omg I did what matty said and she changed
pps Yay now I can change it every time, just look at her leg when it crosses the other and that's when you make the change

Re: Which side of your brain are you using ?
It just keeps changing direction at random times with no pattern to it. What does that mean...

Re: Which side of your brain are you using ?
That your brain is rather indecisive, and keeps changing its thought patterns.

Clockwise here... and I have absolutely no clue how anyone can see that spinning the other way.

Agreed, since I doubt having an IQ even near to 120.

Which is weird, since I am better at maths and calculations and stuff rather than drawing stuff.

I saw it as clockwise, then I looked at her shadow and saw it as counter-clockwise. Then I saw it as clockwise again after a few minutes.

...everyone uses both sides of their brain.... constantly
And the chick in the picture changes directions. It's an animation, not an illusion.

you can stare at her anywhere but her shadow and she will NEVER change her direction, she will spin constantly in one direction untill you focus on her shadow and make her change directions

Nope. I checked its frames, same direction.
I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.
