RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Re: Anime anyone?

Eh, I watch some Animes. Usually I spend time reading manga because on the internet there are sooo many I can get for free www.onemanga.com for instance.

The Animes ive seen are: Bleach, Naruto, Hellsing Ultimate OVA, and Death Note(TERRIBLE).

Re: Anime anyone?

I don't watch anime very often now, but when I was younger, around the ages 7-10 I was more into it. I watched a lot of Outlaw Star episodes, Zoids, and Dragon Ball Z, partly because they was on each day when my parents were asleep. I had nothing else really to do other than homework until my parents woke up, so I just ended up watching them each day for awhile along with other shows that were on at the time.

HURRR DURRR

This made me rage to no end. Did you just compare anime to furfag fandom?

You're a fucking idiot. Nice job having an open mind. Anime has honestly been around since the Edo period. The manga art style is rooted in the traditional woodblock print art style. Japan in general has enjoyed comic book since they'd been around, and anime is really just an on-screen version of that.

By the way, the "kawaii-culture" has to do more with otaku subculture, and not anime in general. If you weren't too busy being an ignorant dumbass, you would realize there's plenty of anime out there that doesn't appeal to moe shit.

inb4 you point out my avatar and the stuff I like instead of making a decent rebuttal.

Re: Anime anyone?

Strat-kun has a point, anime and manga are two of Japan's oldest art forms, furfags are entirely seperated from anime/manga culture, and 'kawaii' is more otaku than anything.

Moe is a feeling normally aroused by cute characters. Also, dizzyness. And wikipedia. Wikipedia says it all.

Re: Anime anyone?

I've seen Ouran High School Host Club, Naruto, Black Cat, Fruits Basket, Azumanga Dioh, Skip Beat, Kuroshitsuji, Death Note, Vampire Night, Higurashi (IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCH THIS ANIME, YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT!), Hetalia, Lucky Star, and I've seen like 20 eps of Bleach. Happyno Couldn't really get into it. I'm starting to watch Pandora Hearts, and when I'm finished with this I'm gonna watch Reborn.

I agree, manga is better than anime. But sometimes, the mangas are just so bloody aweful compared to the anime (well at least in my opinion)!
