RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

The Dean

Our Dean is also my teacher in one of my subjects. One time, he's already almost 30 minutes late and our class is for one hour. So, the school has this policy that when you're already 15 minutes late you can't come to the class anymore whether you're a teacher or a student.
He still came to class in that time, and some of my classmate are already out of the classroom. He noticed that and said that if he ,or maybe his assistant, didn't inform us that he's not around the class will continue.

Re: The Dean

Reminds me of this jerkass... You know what? I wrote a story about it. Let me see if I can dig it up.

*goes to dig it up*

Okay, here it is. Over 3 years old Biggrin I was in college.

I'm fucking pissed off. I think I'm going to go off the deep end this time. I'm ticked, upset, and just a bit miffed.

December 7, 2005
8:25AM - On this anniversary of Pearl Harbor, I was ready to get bombed on by my enemy, the fucking dumb as shit physics teacher (who just happens to be the fucking dumb as shit probability and statistics teacher I had last semester). I was walking toward the gallows, and I got to class. He's not there. As usual. Some other dude shows up. Then some other dude. Half of our class is there by that point. No, really. There are at most eight people in that class, and it's probably less.

8:30AM - One other dude shows up. There's now four of us. It would probably be a good idea to name these people. There's me, S, A, and B.

8:35AM - The fifth dude shows up. Call him C. We're all getting pissed. We're not paying out our assholes for our teacher to be late as fuck.

8:37AM - The teacher teaching across the hall comes out and unlocks the classroom door because he's not an asshole. We thank him and praise him for being kind of cool. We then all swipe our ID cards in the ID card attendance machine. I go off on a rant about that thing being big brother. Nobody cares. I lose hope for humanity.

8:40AM - We devise a plan. At the 20 minute mark, we will leave. We'll leave fast, and we'll split up. We go on about how he'll show up at the 19 minute mark and all, and how we're fucked because these schemes are always doomed to fail.

8:43AM - We can't beleve it. This might actually work. We might actually be unofficially entitled to a day off. After all, if the entire class isn't there, what's the teacher going to do?

8:44AM - We're all going OMGWTFBBQ in real life. He actually hasn't showed up yet. S went out to the door and kept an eye out as I counted down. It was a tense series of moments.

8:45AM - S says he showed up. We all cursed. S said he was kidding and he was nowhere to be found. We all punched S. I took command and directed everybody out of the room as fast as I could. I told everybody to split up. If the teacher saw one of us, he probably wouldn't see the others, and there wouldn't be a class with just one student.

Everybody was slow. Nobody split up. I probably should've known right then that the plan would've failed. Ironically, that's not how the plan failed in the end. Regardless, I pulled up my hood and high tailed it out of there. I was disguised and moving cautiously. I didn't want anybody to see me. It was to be a day of glorious celebration, and it was.

And the day passes.

December 8, 2005
The 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death. Kind of fitting, actually. I sure felt like I was shot and died this morning. I was talking to S, and he broke the news to me. The class met after all. There were only three students, but there was class anyway.

S works at the school, so he had gone to the lab. He then had to go elsewhere in the school to fix a computer or something. At around 8:50AM, the teacher saw him in the hallway. That wouldn't have been so bad. However...

The sixth student in the class, T, showed up at nearly exactly the same time as the teacher. He had already gone to the classroom, and he saw the door was closed and nobody was there. He started to go back to his car to go home. He got spotted by the teacher on his way back to the car. By showing up late, he inadvertantly screwed himself.

As for the third student that was in the class that shouldn't have been, well, that was B. I called him B for a reason. B stands for BITCH. I talked to him this morning. I asked him what the fuck he went back to class for. We had a plan. We had a cause. We could've been successful. He just sort of mumbled inaudible bullshit. I was disgusted. I just said "fuck you, pal" and walked away. He should've been gone. He wasn't spotted. He just went back to the classroom after we had all left. Way to piss in my corn flakes, buddy. You're a real asshole.

What did I miss? Well, I missed an entire lecture. I also missed, more importantly, a lab assignment. I CAN'T MAKE UP LAB ASSIGNMENTS. I might have also missed a quiz. I don't know. I was too pissed to ask S. So, thanks to the dillholery of B and T, I got fucked over. S is the only one with a valid reason. He was merely doing his job at that damn school. It wasn't his fault.

Now I know why Americans are so stupid, we're stupid drivers, and we haven't successfully fought a war since World War II, and even WWII was kind of fucked over post-war. We can't do simple things like think and stick to a plan. We're self-destructive, and we're pathetic. We've got no balls.

What will I do for physics tomorrow? I think I'll show up really late. It's the fucking American way, you know.
