RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. Send me a message if you'd like to keep in touch with me & Steve.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Clearly you mustn't see the humorous irony is what you've just said.

But seriously, if you have no real evidence, why should I believe you? Your assertion of god exists is no different than the assertion of greek gods, roman gods, egyptian gods, the flying spaghetti monster, or the native american tribals religion that all of life and matter was created by ant shit. No seriously.

Hidden stuff:
TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

God made a God(aka Jesus) even though he said "No God shall come before me", planned for that part of God to get hanged, have that God die for our sins so God can defeat the Devil and keep us alive, make that God come back from the dead, and also the main God does side things like kill the ones he created because he created them with sin even though he's know as a perfect loving God that manipulates the billions of mini mini gods known as humans that are allowed to kill each other as tiny parts of God which means God is killing himself which is suicide which means God even has sin which mean the Devil has won anyway, and this has to be the longest sentence ever so I guess I'm going back to my mini mini God duties.

Congratulations humanity, because you refuse to let go of the old and evolve you actually make people believe in 2012. Not only that, but you're the only species on Earth that were able to make it possible, now we get to sit until we die because we couldn't get to Mars. We have failed as a society and don't deserve our gifts to survive for this long. Maybe this is why dinosaurs are extinct, we sure aren't any better than the dirt you say we're created from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...DvwSOFto#! Noo

OK. God exists and also doesn't exist at the same time. He's God, and therefore does not need to follow logic and whatnot.

Should I start ranting on Noa's Ark logic or that God made the Earth 6000 years ago "just for us" logic? It seems it's official this is a God or no God thread.

God doesn't make sense to me.

Maybe we are all just pets. The Earth is like a high-tech fish bowl, with its own ecosystems. We could just be an experiment, a test to see how long we survive in this artificial world. Our owners choose organisms that live, discard the species that perish. We could be really tiny and not know it. What seems like endless space could be really very little. Like a germ in an aquarium.

We think we know so much, but in reality there could be a whole nother dimension we are not even aware of.

Wtf

God doesn't threaten them, but some of His followers do.

The idea of Christianity is not that non-believers go to hell for all eternity (technically, that isn't even accurate, according to Revelations). God doesn't strike down satirists that use his name "in vain" with a bolt of lightning or whatever. He's totally benevolent - He even gave the choice as to whether to believe in Him or not, and a whole lot of other choices that build up to free will. Those who willingly choose to follow Him, even though He has marked the "EXIT" sign very, very clearly, reap the biggest benefits.

Seriously. It just looks like you made all of that up because it seems the nicest to you. Most Christians will say something else.

You're right, god doesn't threaten anyone. Threatening is a time-waster, instead, he goes right into killing them off.

SILENCE, BLASPHEMER!

John 3:18 - "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

Quote:(technically, that isn't even accurate, according to Revelations)
Where in revelations does it say non-believers won't burn for all eternity?

Quote:God doesn't strike down satirists that use his name "in vain" with a bolt of lightning or whatever.
Lightning is overrated. Examples of god's love:

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Examples_of...ing_people

Quote:He's totally benevolent
2 Kings 2:23-24 - "And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare (KILLED) forty and two (Forty two) children of them."

Killing prepubescents is AWWWWRIGHT...actually, wait...No. NO, ITS NOT ALRIGHT!

Quote:He even gave the choice as to whether to believe in Him or not, and a whole lot of other choices that build up to free will.
Free will does not exist according to the bible;

Jeremiah 10:23
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

Acts 13:48
And as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

Rom.8:29-30
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate.... Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Rom.9:11-22
For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth. .... For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? ... Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction.

Eph.1:4-5
He hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.

2 Th.2:11-12
God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned.

2 Tim.1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.

Jude 4
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation.

Richter: Tribute? You steal men's souls, and make them your slaves!

Dracula: I suppose the same could be said of all religions...

Richter: Your words are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill needs a savior such as you!

Not exactly related, but do you think, sociopath, people that dream of extraordinarily detailed things that happened to another person, like people whoreme, ber things from other people's life that they could not possibly know of, can be soley to confirmation bias and coincidence?

Its unlikely as ever to even be the real thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_memory_biases

If it is, there's no way we can be sure of or not if they're lying, unless it was call-for-call, and even then we're not sure: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Negative_proof

If there's even somewhat of it being true, its most likely exaggerated unless there's a long list of them calling it "for real" and even then, we cannot be so sure: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Selective_reporting

On the unlikely chance it *is* call-for-call, it makes no difference. It's most likely just due to pure luck: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Improbable_things_happen

So in actuality, unless I have have clear-cut empirical evidence, the answer is, quite simply, Yes, all due to bias and/or coincidence.

...you're not going all religious/psuedoscientific on me, are you?

You're right, god doesn't threaten anyone. Threatening is a time-waster, instead, he goes right into killing them off.
Why would He be concerned with wasting time? All of it's His, anyway.

SILENCE, BLASPHEMER!

John 3:18 - "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."
I'm saying that isn't the idea. God's more of an insurance plan in this respect - invest in Him, and the devil doesn't take your soul when you die. Now with Heaven for your added convenience and comfort.

The idea of Christianity, though, is to spread the Good Word. God decided that He and mankind should not be apart, so He sent His Son to save our skins. Even those who don't believe are offered a better chance at not burning in a fiery inferno for all eternity. More on that later. Anyway, to best spread the Word, Christians must walk in love, peaceably attracting others to the cause. (This principle appears to be lost on most churches today.)

Where in revelations does it say non-believers won't burn for all eternity?
Ever heard of Judgement? (I believe this was explained in books ranging from Matthew to Revelations) That's what non-believers have to go through at the end of times in order to get into Heaven anyway. 144,000 (12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel) are already guaranteed a spot (Revelations 7), and even more than that are capable of repenting even after the rapture.

...Hang on, more responses later...
