To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Intelligence - Is it real?
So I was doing some thinking earlier, just some light thought, and I pondered about this, and it made me wonder..Does intelligence really exist?
People have knowledge, and people have intelligence. Knowledge is defined as having acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation. Intelligence is defined as a persons capacity for learning, reasoning, understanding, and similar forms of mental activity. Basically, knowledge is knowing something, and intelligence is being able to know it.
So I thought, when somebody says " I'm smarter than you " they just mean they have more thinking capacity, they don't actually know more than me.
Does intelligence exist as empty space, that is just possible to be filled, but isn't? Our knowledge is the part that actually gets applied to everyday life.
I live by a phillosiophy - " There is no smarter person in the all around world, just the person that is more knowledgeable in a particular situation. "
We go to school to learn the knowledge for basic life situations. We then progress to college to further expand our knowledge in a specific life path to open up to specific life situations. In the working world, we use that knowledge to the situations we face in the world around us, and as we progress through our life, we steadily gain more knowledge.
See, if we had been gaining intelligence, we would be gaining thinking capacity, but not actually learning anything. So what I'm saying is that there is no real Intelligence, there is only knowledge, and intelligence is only there for knowledge to fill it up.

Re: Intelligence - Is it real?
i would say that some people might be more knowledgeble, even if they are less intelligent and that there are definately people with higher capacities to learn and understand than others. all in all, being smart comes down to what your definition of smart is. even if you're the most capable person in the world, you won't know anything if you don't have the drive to use it.

Re: Intelligence - Is it real?
My parents used to say that I'm a smart kid. But that was back when I read several books each month and was completely obsessed with being top of the class. Now, I've come to the conclusion that every one has the ability to be more or less equal in terms of intelligence. Granted, there are always those that will have a better understanding of one subject, or those that will learn faster overall, but given enough time all people will probably end up with the same amount of intelligence.
So what is intelligence? There are probably several ways of defining intelligence, but mine would be this: Intelligence is the ability to use the right knowledge for a given situation. The better people are at using their knowledge, and the more of it they possess, the more intelligent they are.

So, what you're saying is, intelligence and knowledge both coexist?

Re: Intelligence - Is it real?
Hm, I see. I also heard from another source that my argument has been disproven.
- The brain has a funtion called plasticity, which allows ever explanding space when needed. Thus, ever expanding intelligence.

Re: Intelligence - Is it real?
Yeah, knowledge could probably be "obtained" by anyone. Some "obtain" it quicker, some slower. (How else would education work?)
