To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

How do you play your games?
I'll admit. I'm as casual as it goes. No, I don't spend my time with silly ball games, but I play almost every game on easy settings. Maybe it's my soul-crushing inferiority complex that's making me say this, but I like to play games in order to get a taste of the in-game world, the music, the story, the game mechanics, not to show my gamer penis and how I killed a level 250 troll with a branch. Naturally, this doesn't mean I don't enjoy a challenge, but I'm not the kind to go into an Oblivion dungeon on 100 setting armed with nothing but my fists and 10HP.
What about you guys? Are you hardk0r3 or do you like your games easy? Or are you somewhere in between the two extremes?

But here is the process for single player:
>Boot up Game
>Don't read Tutorial
>Start Game on Medium
>OH GOD IS THIS IMPOSSIBLE DIFFICULTY OR SOMETHING
>Concede and set to Easy
>Beat game once on Easy
>Set Difficulty to Impossible
>Beat game after much wailing and nashing of teeth
Multiplayer:
>Boot up game after having read strategy guides
>Be anally violated

I'm in the middle. I wouldn't call myself a casual but I hate the elitists who degrade anyone who doesn't play the way they want them to (unless it's called for and the person is actually doing something tremendously stupid).
When it comes to L4D, I'm a bit more short-tempered because I almost always play on Advanced, Survival, or Versus, and one large mistake by a player on those game modes can fuck the entire team over.
STALKER, the only way you can play it is the way you would live it. Slow, careful, scared shitless, and a bullet will end you right then and there.
TF2, either soldier and lolcritrocket, medic and credit to team, pyro and barbecue tonight, or engineer and hold up the entire enemy team with one well-placed set of level 3 buildings.

I consider myself casual. I will play L4D and related games on higher settings in multiplayer but that's about it.
In single player campaigns I go easy, I like to have a story told to me not play the same fucking level 40 times over. I'm not one of those dumb shits who blasts right through the cutscenes just to shoot more shit. I play a game to be sucked into a different world. I love games like Fallout, Bioshock, and Deus Ex because they have complex backstories.

Meh I usually just play on medium, on minecraft I play on either peaceful or easy, but most of the time I play on a creative server.

Play game on medium mode.
Finish the game wishing there is more content and play again.
Mod the shit out of the game.
Beat the game with all the mods on.
Game crashes because of too many mods.

I beat Deus Ex on medium, and I used to play gears of war on insane. Meh.
Still just do whatever you enjoy, adjust settings to something that isn't too hard to be frustrating but not too easy to be boring for you, ????, PROFIT

I play the Empire Earth games. It's funny. I make only 2 countries. Put me in Epoch 15 and them in Epoch 4. Then I annex most of the map, and declare war.
Watch all the planes in the world destroy a small, weak empire.

I usually only play rpg's and when I play them I play them on easy because I don't like trying. I much prefer to pretend like I'm the most badass motherfucker ever with my dual swords and never dying. Plus I play for the story, not the combat.

Love that game. I usually play normally but then if the computer managed to pull off an lolnope and I get anally violated I go into Earth editor and build myself a base a anally violate him for a change.
