To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I'm back

After almost 3 years. 3 years too long.

I transferred to a different, and more prestigious, uni. Still chasing that bio degree. My views haven't changed much, as alot of our older members, if they're still around, will tell you. Sad to see I left just before another wave of excitement started, as the influx of new, interesting members happened in the 2013 era (not to diminish the value of our members who came afterward.) Ah, good ol' SS, it's good to be back. The stories, the lives, the heartbreak, the support, the memes, everything reminding me of why I love this place so much.

While my views haven't changed much, they did change. I'm actually more caring about the plight of others (and no, I did not turn into an SJW.) I feel I've become more relaxed and focused on things now than I was before.

I never left SS, I was just dormant. Since Soul changed Hosts it made it impossible for some of us to post due to some changes. Try as I did, I couldn't get my POS computer to be able to post things on SS, and I tried alot of things, even deleting cookies like Soul suggested, but since it didn't work, SS just sorta fell by the wayside. Now, I have a new computer and relocated to a new position, and everything is fine now.

I'm once again ready to continue the cause. Youth Rights.

Well, when I say views, moreover I mean like my outlook on life. Since I had to spend more time with others while in college I think I slowly started to like people again. It used to be I didn't like anyone in my life and the only people I could connect with were people online like in SS. I feel more mature now, and I feel like things are looking up for me.

Also I got put on Adderall for my ADHD and I've been feeling great ever since. Never knew how good amps felt, makes me feel alive like I haven't felt inna long time.

Some of the old folk r in darknedgy, though Sharpie and Alistoriv hops in between now and then.(so do I but I'm the new guy that just managed to outpost most of SS...nothing big ya know :wink: )

It's nice to see members coming back. Such folk bring their life experiences back here. We've had some bumpy periods, and some members have...fallen off the wagon for some reason or another but I guess we're doing well.

So now that I've said that, I shall proceed to ban you for lulz and commence my coup to overthrow the tyrannical govt for a great government led by the proletariat for the proletariat with the help of the Stalin guidebook to dominating a country. Razz

I know I ended it being a drama queen, I don't really agree with the ideology anymore, and I'm really not the same person I was (I went through a neopagan phase!) but still this site was the first online community I was in. He went spam crazy and spammed threads he disliked with massive amounts of Obama and stuff. Supposedly recruited to the dark side by some ex-user who secretly talked with him on IRC and made him all legit dark edgy with a dose of duelix. Sad loss, I liked the fella.

DoApocalypse was when DoA had mod powers, some folk from DnE like aya trolled and stuff, ppl got banned and all hell sorta broke lose regarding freedom of speech vs trolling vs mod vigilantism vs me getting a warning despite my godhood(sane people are granted my divine permission to disagree or disregard the last statement)

And somewhere in between I attempted a takeover by trying to persuade ppl to make me supreme judge mod who would bring righteous justice with my inquisition even Soul would not be safe from.

Oh and after the last thing Soul took SS offline for maintaince or moving the host or something, but most likely a few extra days were added to cool off ppl. IRC became main method.

And here we now are.
