RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

The Games: Geography of SS

The Games

INTRODUCTION/PROPOSAL
Hidden stuff:
Okay... This is more of an idea than anything at the moment. This is like DoA's "Fallout," as it is an RP within the GoSS universe. Except, there will be much more of an emphasis on conversation and language. I will be the GM.
So, this takes place at the same universe as the normal GoSS, just after the initial outbreak of the Capitalistian Civil War. Using the chaos of the war as a cover, a genius madman escapes from an insane asylum. He then kidnaps a number of individuals (You guys.) for a special reason.

The task is simple. Do the "Games" he has set up (Which are designed to put unbearable amounts of mental strain on the player.) . Every game you win, he gives you a hint of why he chose you. Guess right before you go insane, and you go free. Go insane, and you die.

If that sounds interesting to anyone, I'll get a character template going, and then we can start. This will be my first time GMing, so please bear with me. Of couse, when it's started, this post will be edited to be more fitting.

CHARACTER LOGS (Taken from the files of the GameMaker.)

Hidden stuff:
"Emily Duskshine, a young comic artist. The only time of mental stress was when her parents died, but she has all but healed from that trauma.... She has a red belt in Judo (the highest rank.) Was a smartass in school, but didn't get in trouble because she knew just what to say, both in her rebellion and her apologies. Exhibits a respect for altruism and the common good, but does not like to be tied down. Ties with the Freedom Party."

"Molly, a strange one. She was a 16 year old student who died. But, her body just kept trucking along, like nothing ever happened... Believes in equalism, and that both sides must be balanced. Known for creating elaborate traps for males who would tease her in school. She also is known for going out with people and pretending to love them so that she can get revenge. Once she wants to break you, there is no easy way to shake her off of your tail. Ties with the Freedom Party"

"Johnny Wactor, a young and up and coming computer programmer. He is a hardened man, probably because of some locked off trauma. He is known for aiding both the Freedom Party and Control Party by designing algorithms to calculate public opinion. He does have a criminal record, but his main motivation in his criminal work is to help others. Always able to get out of jail time, either by talking to the judge or pretending he was innocent. Known to break ribs with his punches."

"Terrell J. Winters, an Amerigonian terrorist. Has ties with FASH and other secret organizations. Known to have infiltrated Congress by buying out members. Helped out Mr. Jim by tracing down a strain of flu to later be modified into the SB family of biological weapons.... Has an uncanny resemblance to Mr. Lennon. His records currently say that he works as an electrician and has a family of four, and he plays that role well. Fourteen members of Congress currently follow his orders. He was a bitch to get information for, because he is very good at wiping his records."

GAME SUMMARY (will be updated after every Game.)
Hidden stuff:
Game One: The only ones to actually participate are Winters and Molly. Winters with storms of bigotry, and Molly with threats of violence. After cooperation thins, The GameMaker gets more violent, and makes the Games more deadly.

CURRENT STANDINGS
Hidden stuff:

Duskshine: 0
Molly: 0
Wactor: 1
Winters: 0

So this is canon, takes place during the Capitalistian Civil War, and occurs in Capitalistian?

I love it when diverging stories meet. I'll play.

RE: The Games: Geography of SS

Yeah, assuming that it goes on long enough, the RP will be affected by things such as The Purge, the FASH terrorist attack, the teddy grams, etc.

I'll get a template on here by tonight. Before then, it will be a good idea to get a general idea of your character. Like morality, party affiliation, skills, etc.

The Games: Geography of SS

I believe I will play a Lawful Evil/Neutral character and former proponent of the Control Party. A master of speechcraft, deception, and to a degree stealth...still working on the details.

You know, with Capitalistian's constant flip-flopping of party control between Freedom and Control, one would expect most of its populace to be centrists that vote any which way on a whim.

RE: The Games: Geography of SS

No, actually. You know how people would root for their home team in a sport? It's kind of like that. It's like a perpetual game between supporters of the Freedom Party and the Control Party. So, you might be in favor of the Control Party because you think the co leader is attractive, or shit like that.

One thing to mention is that laws are hard to remove, but who controls what changes a lot. So, laws can be contradictory because they were set up be different parties. For example, gay marrage is legal, but you can be put in jail for being transgender. Does that make sense?

It's very schizophrenic.

My character would likely be in the Jonathan Jim camp, and one of the few players who actually cares about politics. It's a shame he's technically evil, though in the events of this game he'd probably be more of an anti-villain or anti-hero.

I would be a creative zombie. I would also be obsessed with being useful and try my best to be useful.

I would be able to remove body parts at will and reattach them at will. I will also be able to control my body parts while there not attached to my body too.

RE: The Games: Geography of SS

Screw it. We had demons, we can have zombies. But, you would have to be just like another human. Taking off limbs and such would be an advantage, which would be unfair to the other players.

Also, you need to just have three traits, like what Lollipopgirl did. (Good job, btw.)

The Games: Geography of SS

If that's alright with you, SubCulture, I'd like to bring back a minor character from GoSS who, conveniently, fits the description I posted here and is fated to die at the end of the Civil War. You might recognize a new member of Freedom Activists Seeking Holiness's inner circle by the name of...Mr. Terrell J. Winters!

Gender: Male
Age: Mid to late thirties
Build: Thin/Average
Cosmetics: Whatever Lennon's were, hair parted in opposite direction
Occupation: Amerigoan "freedom fighter" (bigoted terrorist)
Family: Unknown
Political affiliation: Control
Mental health: Somewhat stable
Morality: Lawful Evil

TRAITS:
Lying and Deception
Persuasion
Cleverness

The Games: Geography of SS

(You all wake up, tied to a chair and handcuffed, in a room with dim lights. You hear the dull sound of explosions and gunfire above you. A man enters, hair and face unkempt, but he's wearing a very clean and expensive black and red suit.)

Hello... Wakie wakie eggs and bakie... We have a lot to cover, and not a lot of time to do it in, so WAKE UP!

Okay, first, a little about me. You can call me the GameMaker. I was wrongly imprisoned in an asylum for doing research, but I got out, thankfully. You are my release party!

It was hard to keep track of you all when I was in there. But not hard enough, I suppose.

So, this is how it's going to work. You each have a secret that I know about. You have to tell me what this secret is. No, you can't just guess the secret. Something tells me that you don't just blurt it out either. So, I have made a series of Games for you to play. Win them, and I'll give you a hint on what this secret is. Lose, and you don't. But, you'll want to win as many as you can. I'm not sure now much of them your little minds will be able to take. A mind that goes crazy just isn't fun anymore.

So, any questions? And then we can begin. -The GameMaker

Winters: Yeah, I've got a question. You've definitely heard of me, right? If that's the case, you know I have ties to some...very important people. Why take such a foolish risk?

RE: The Games: Geography of SS

Yeah. Not doing what I say will result in undesirable consequences. I won't go into specifics, though. It's more fun that way. But, I should say that using and sort of mystical power is strictly prohibited, and punishable by death.

(Turns to Winters and takes out Winter's phone and begins typing on it.) It's because... (Shows Winters his phone.) You are headed to Fantasia to do some espionage work. To get away from the war until you're ready to continue work here. Maybe bring out some information that would cause a war betwen Fantasia and Capitalistian. And that you'll pick up a phone there as a burner. (Sends message, and then breaks phone.) -The GameMaker

Molly: Not to be a rude brat but I'm kind of already dead Shy...Oh don't worry I promise not to use any "mystical power".

Winters: That phone cost me good money, s'wit!

(OOC: By the way, Winters uses a lot of racially charged language. Unfortunately, the races and cultures of GoSS are so unlike our own that I'm going to end up using words from various sources of fiction to act as expletives.)
