My brother used to annoy me with this all the time when I was in middle school and until 9th grade.

My brother always tried to tell me that I should get a date and talk with girls. The big problem: I was socially awkward as hell. It didn't help me that I had to go through the torment of middle school.

I'm a socially awkward person, I like to be alone. I didn't see the point in establishing a relationship with someone else which will only last a few months (maybe even less than that) and you don't even love them, it's just puberty. Plus, half the girls (and people in general) at my middle school were snobby as hell.

So, to anyone who is getting pressured by their parents/siblings/friends/etc to go get a boy/girlfriend or get a kiss, but you don't give a shit, then continue not to give a shit. Eventually they'll realize you don't care about high school relationships. They might tell you "but, you're missing out!", you're not missing out on much. It won't even last long, so it's virtually pointless at the end.

Oh, my mother give me grief over this all the time. She's is convinced that I have a crush on the girl a few doors down (I don't), a girl from church (I don't), and a girl from camp she doesn't know about (admittedly). The thing is, I'd only consider dating if the girl was Jewish or planning to convert, and considering my parents don't know my religious beliefs, I doubt they would be pleased, to say the least. Secondly, the girls my mother thinks I have a romantic interest in aren't my type at all, and when I've tried to say this she cuts me off and says that since I'm denying it, it must be true.

Argh.

@Miab419 and FreelancePoliceman Parents love to think that any girl (or boy) you hang around with is automatically a "romance interest" and they all try to talk all cutsey and whatnot. I hate it as well. How are they supposed to know what we think about people?

That reminds me, I used to talk a lot with a girl from swim team too, and my mother thought we had a non-platonic relationship, so she'd always be checking my texting history. Grr.

My mother annoys me about it sometimes. If I dare mention anything about girls, its teasing then cautioning me about getting "seduced" and manipulated by them. I just roll my eyes.

I didn't care much for relationships in High school. I have a slowly growing interest, though my preference of women usually is a bit older. Basically I find that 20+ portray something more to my liking(though it's possible for 19 to work)

Now, I'm not saying going on a date is bad or anything, but some guys act like it's the only important thing in life. If they're single, or someone else is, it's like that guy failed at life. You all know what I'm talking about. Men who are weak and dumb, but think they're the shit because they got their dicks wet.

My focuses in life are far away from dating/romance. If I fancy someone then I'll approach them, but I hate when people keep shoving the dating idea in my face. I am trying to actually focus on things that matter outside of my own world.

I seriously wonder why some people like to act as if having a relationship is truly the thing you should focus on. Like I say, I'm a socially awkward person. It's difficult enough to make relationships with other people, but romantic ones are another level. Because of that awkwardness, I really have better things to worry about, like video games, sports, and the history of Europe.

Oh, and my brother always got on me for spending my weekend learning. I love learning, you know, at my own pace, not against my will. The only time for that is the weekend. My brother always says, "Why are you spending your weekend on Wikipedia? Go out or something!". Well, some people have different priorities.

I personally don't believe in such "dips". While it may seem like only the female is the one being used, does it occur the male is simply seeing himself as a walking sex toy that needs constant simulation and nothing else?

Haha, I will be impressed if anyone can actually have sex while lifting hundreds of pounds. I have no energy so by the time I'm done lifting/reading/writing, I don't know how exciting of a date I'd be.

Like I said, if some guy wants to be a walking dildo, it's not my business. I just don't like other guys pushing me or bragging about it.

Edit: Also, I noticed guys are pressured more often than girls to date. Probably due to gender norms, where guys have to 'spread their seed' and girls should be stay-at-home virgins. Pressuring males who don't date is the opposite side of slut shaming. It's pretty annoying.

Idk I mean it's fine if people date when they're younger, they find out what they like or don't like. I don't really think that's shallow. Personally I enjoy relationships both romantic and platonic, even if they don't always work out you still get an experience.

Yeah. I'm 75% sure that I'm aromatic, but EVERYONE tells me to get a girlfriend. I'm in my first year of effing Middle School. Even if I wanted that, I wouldn't ever need it, and I'm not ready for the responsibility.
Also, my brother is SO anti-aromatic, and he thinks having a family is "the only way."

Up until really recently it was taboo to talk about safe sex in schools and schools encouraged pure abstinence. Not worked out exactly like they hoped it would.
