RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

RE: Putting Communism back in the running.

Then I wouldn't be very free. Look, in communism, this is what I expect:
1. I get my own little apartment assigned. I don't care about anything, except, it must be in a location I predefine.
2. I can do whatever Job I want, as long as it serves community purpose. I'd just repair peoples PC's and help the country on it's IT-Infrastructure.
3. I can order some food. There is enough for everybody in this world. (Well, in the western countrys that is). So I can decide what I eat.
4. Communication must be improved to remain in a state of long lasting communist peace. No Stasi though.
5. I can just go to some "business", say I need a new Lada/BMW/whatever and get it in a week.

This is just a few points, but as you have seen in the soviet union, when a idiot rises to power, peace isn't guaranteed. On the other hand, if we made a SS Island, I'd like to try it.

We do not have true capitalism right now.

Is there a way we can have freedom WITHOUT hierarchy among citizens?

Almost impossible... I think a better question would be "Is there a way we can have freedom WITHOUT forced hierarchy among citizens?

I don't mind not being as elite as others. I just want enough to enjoy my life. I don't need private jets.

People are going to have more money than other people. Its just gonna happen in a free country. But the citizens with more money shouldn't have more POWER in the government than poorer people. Catch my drift?

No more lobbying and presidential campaign contributions. Simples.

Ah that's what you meant. Yes I think it is possible.... meh I am anti-government though. I think if government existed people with money will always find a way to more power.

What about minority groups and interest groups like the NYRA? How would we get shit done without lobbying? Plus, in order to end campaign contributions we would have to suspend freedom of speech since technically none of the campaigns that raise the most money are run by the parties or candidates. They are third party organisations.

Plus, why is everyone so pro-capitalism just because it's capitalism lol? It's an igght system, but if it's not sustainable why continue it?

RE: Putting Communism back in the running.

Have you ever listened to imagine by John Lennon? His lyrics make such an excellent point
Hidden stuff:
Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one

Good point. You just pointed out a major flaw in the system. Another reason why government fails.

RE: Putting Communism back in the running.

I would prefer a voluntary society in which all people lived as they wished provided they did not infringe on the rights of others. I would like to work on collective farm (think kibbutz) but i would also let an caps, mutualists, republicans, even statists live in peace, so long as they did not force me to engage in their systems, and i would defend their right to have their system if need be.

Reminds me of my farm idea I had some time ago for people who didn't want to compete in the idiotic corporate ladder. I like the way you think and welcome.
