RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

So I bought a 3DS today...

...and I just can't put it down! Why didn't I buy one sooner?

I only bought one game for it so far - Pokemon Y - and I'm already hooked. The 3D effects are amazing, the controls are familiar, and there's something about holding the game in my hand that my PS3 can't seem to replicate (though it has its advantages).

For all the money the handheld console and associated game cost me, I expected nothing less than utter excellence...and, amazingly, I wasn't disappointed. I kinda figured it would be one of those novelty items that sell around a cheap gimmick, but it plays like a graphically superior version of previous Nintendo consoles, and the new features are quite enthralling, to say the least.

I bet StreetPass and similar programs are going to get on my nerves eventually, though - they're pretty invasive.

Yep, if I wasn't wasting time before, I certainly will be for the foreseeable future. Razz

I think I spent too much time on KH 3D... Pokemon, I finished relatively quick. I'm really excited for the Hoenn remakes Smile

Yeah, so am I. The very first Pokemon game I played was Sapphire - though, technically speaking, that was my friend's game, he handed it to me for only five minutes, and I didn't get to battle anyone (nor did I know how). Something about Lavaridge Town, a Poke Mart, and some berries.

Pokemon Y is taking me a really long time (I've played it for four hours and haven't bothered with the first Gym yet) because I'm trying to catch as many different Pokemon as I can (and I'm wonder trading away the useless ones, which makes me kind of look like a dick).

I love my 3DS. I haven't been playing that much lately because I got a Vita, but it's great. I don't care for the 3D effect at all personally. The sweet spot is way too small. I guess the key to the 3DS's success is the originality of its games. They're games you can't really get anywhere else, especially big sellers like Pokemon. I like the controls of the 3DS too. While the screen isn't great, games still look good.

I'll probably get Majora's Mask 3D when it comes out. The PS Vita is better in almost every way though, the exception being the games.

If anyone has Smash Bros. or New Leaf, consider adding me.

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

Get Super smash bros 4, it kicks butt,

Believe me it was a real blow to me too. Does smash bros. support cross-platform multiplayer?

I think SSB4 does, I'll be surprised if they didn't.
About Fox and his nerf, I can still kick ass with him. I usually average 2nd place in multiplayer matches and when I play with my little brother, who plays as Greninja (we're about equal skill level) I end up winning half of the time
