This is definitely worth pursuing. They have a format and a lot of experience doing interviews, which is something we don't (yet.)

I can imagine more than a single podcast, maybe with different topics.

One step forward is for anyone who's interested to watch some of their episodes and think about how it might go with us, depending on who takes part in a given episode, and what the focus is.

One model is for them to interview some of us individually, like to get our stories and views, but we could also talk about the site itself, plans for the future, questions about what next, and all that.

Ideas?

I'm really not an audio kind of person... I listened to one podcast. It's a whole hour... that's an entire hour of listening to people talk. Not my thing, lol. Yeah, it was interesting... but... it's people talking. I don't like people talking... I'll probably check out some others, but I don't think I'm the right person to handle this.

Interesting, Soul. What do you prefer when it comes to taking in information?

My brother listens to tons of podcasts. That seems to be the main way he takes in information. It's a worthwhile angle to explore.

But for those who prefer other things, what works? Dramatic TV series? Short YouTube videos?

Personally, I like videos with people talking as a way to take in information, or sometimes live lectures. But long periods of just talking can be boring, depending on the topic, and even my own focus at the time.

It's worth noting that School Sucks Podcast is done on video... even though it's also available as audio. Have you seen any of their stuff?

I like to listen to the radio, and if I miss anything on NPR I'll listen on the site, but I prefer transcripts to voice because I read faster than the pace the people in voice speak it.

I didn't even realize there were videos... I just downloaded the mp3's. Videos are even worse to me... that's two entire senses I have to dedicate to something.

I prefer text... easier to skip ahead and find what I'm looking for quickly.

Fascinating. Even though I'm sorta known for writing walls of text, I actually prefer video and/or audio for longer things.

That's one reason I've embedded video into many of my longer posts.

Also, I find it very useful to be able to see and hear a person, to provide context to text they might write.

And yet, I can relate to being shy to appear on video or in audio. But in general, I think one of the things holding back change for those who most hate school (often introverts), is the reluctance of so many of us (all of us?) to present ourselves beyond text.

And even text, beyond a couple of sentences, is often disregarded as "too long, won't read." So... the question is, how can any of us communicate anything in a meaningful way?

There must be an answer to that. Any ideas?
