People like soul riser seem to already be aware of the truth about school but it finally has been confirmed that she's definitely right. I've watch several videos, including one called the dark intentions of public schooling, and searched for the origins of school online. School originated in Prussia, where the militia would force kids away from their parents and train them to be mere sheep who can't think for themselves instead of teaching them true education. It's a plot to surrender your mind to the government. Many psychologists already believe humans are becoming dumber. The truth is that the man that created school had something sinister planned, so school is really about obedience, brainwashing, fear, control and the production of students who are less intelligent and have had true education stolen from them. Looks like school really is the enemy of learning, a harsh truth that many of the already brainwashed won't accept. So everyone who can't stand school is definitely right and justified in their negative attitude toward school.

Prussian militarism is somewhat understandable when you consider it as a reaction to what Napoleon did to Prussia (invade, conquer, take the men for soldiers, leave their frozen corpses all over Russia). That act of the French set the stage for the Franco Prussian war, WWI, and WWII.

The Prussian response was to enslave the state and mobilize it to be strong. It is an understandable reaction. However often those so stampeded by fear or anger do not fully realize what they surrender in the process. You can see a little of this same process in the US after 9/11. We now strip search little old ladies at airports.

There are forces that benefit from increasing social control of people. Those who can recognize the process and see in it their own disadvantage may not be able to stop or change such forces, but may be able to maneuver on the fringe so as to minimize the personal impact of these forces of coercion.

That's the problem with many school systems nowadays. They teach us to be compliant and do what we're told without questioning. That type of thinking leads to less creativity and more robotic people. AKA the perfect soldier.

Cianna, I think it's important to take a step back from the "conspiracy" view of the education system. Believe me, I've been there and done that.

It's true that the current model of schooling originated in Prussia, though take note that when it was brought to the United States it wasn't complete ill-intention. Although it's very true that American industrial companies influenced the education system heavily, take note that was the way life was going at the time. I remember Justin Schwamm also brought up a good point that the Industrial Revolution brought us a lot achievements in the end, such as the computer or smartphone you're using.

However, that doesn't mean the current system is right. It's vastly outdated and broken. Kids are barely learning anything and don't think their "education" is relevant in their life anyhow. Worse, standardized testing and more mumbo-jumbo being pumped into the system is making the situation more grave not just for students but teachers and parents as well. I think instead of trying to "expose" what the system really is, I think it's a better idea to try to find a way to make education relevant in teenagers lives by exploring individual interests.

Whatever they planned, it sure did a lot worse than brainwash. It literally poisoned people, at least for me it did. It demotivated me, made me feel like I'll never surpass anything. I feel like the whole school thing is all some kind of sick unfunny prank just to fuck with people.

I have no intentions of giving up, but I'm at that point where just don't give a shit what I do anymore. I'm sure I'll make it in the long run, I mean there were times I was able to overcome some limits throughout school in the past, but even then, I still won't care because it feels like to me it won't even matter in the end, I'll still get fucked over. It's like purgatory in the state of mind.

The people in power know that the current compulsory, public school system helps perpetuate obedience to the state. They know it keeps us dumb and in line and perpetuates the sort of culture they want to have perpetuated. Sure, they may have good intentions, but very few people don't have good intentions.

FFS guys school isn't a conspiracy (well, sorta, but not quite). I mean I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that the education system only exists to brainwash us and make us obey, but at the same time, it's what were taught, not to speak up.

I don't think that their (them being the people who invented and agree with the school system) intentions matter as much as the fact that the factory-model school system is causing a lot of damage. If we're talking about intentions, there are many types of people in the "for school" category- a) The ones who want a well-oiled robot instead of people able to think, analyze and draw their own conclusions. b) the ones who are more moderate-i.e they think that youth is a test or a period when we must be sheltered from the big, bad world..c) people who cannot see what is wrong with school, and d) The sheep-people who do it just because everyone else is. It is also too easy to plead ignorance on the topic if we talk about the intentions. The focus needs to be on the damage school causes, and how to stop repeating those faulty patterns.

I'm going to stress this again: it's important to take a step back from the "conspiracy" point of view. It's already bad enough when society doesn't think teenagers can be taken seriously. It's even worse when the ideas that are thought by teenagers (who can be really good thinkers, I know I'm a great thinker) are considered crank. We're not going to win over minds if we keep saying "school brainwashes people!". Trar and xcriteria made that point to me way back in November. Not only that, I think "brainwash" isn't an entirely accurate term.

Remember that the education system has seamlessly existed for a while now. It's ingrained in our society so much that people treat it as a way of life. Not to make any comparisons, but remember that lynchings of dark skinned people were considered normal throughout the U.S. South before the 1960s, which proves that just because it's "normal" doesn't mean its right, and that's the same for the factory model education system. Instead of going around publishing manifestos telling people that school has brainwashed them, why not instead encourage people to question in a positive way, and look to improve things?

The real conspiracy that's in play here is what's being taught. I believe that skills such as basic literacy, basic math, and writing should still be taught in the early phases of school. Those are all important skills. However, the reason that most people start hating middle and high school is because of this: it's not relevant in their life. Our society values certain things over other ones. I could be the greatest thinker out of all the students in the school but not have that shiny GPA. We have this idea that we must have this giant, standardized curriculum which can never be perfected because we can't teach everything at once.

But yeah, the conspiracy here is that school does not meet individual interests. It's very true that school kills individual interests, and can trap a student's mind with constant reminders of obedience. But is the government trying to brainwash us? If so, why are we constantly reminded that creative thinking, etc, all these things are important in the 21st century? I'm almost certain that big companies want these skills.
