RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Everyone's Nightmare, My Dream.

I recently had a dream that could be considered a nightmare by many, and I would be wrong not to say I didn't feel a sense of fright. But I would be inaccurate if that's all I said, because I also felt a mix of excitement and enjoyment with that fear.

It was like the plot to some horror sci-fi really. Oddly enough I found myself in place of multiple people throughout the dream(their point of view). I'm curious to the symbolism of the dream, especially since the effects of the dream were strong enough for me not to forget it.

Maybe it's just one of those things you just use to write a story or something...We shall see.

RE: Everyone's Nightmare, My Dream.

I remember having a dream a few nights ago about me living in a post-Obama (let's not get political) America with militias roaming the streets and me and a few people going on raids on the militias

Everyone's Nightmare, My Dream.

Not sure if you can top this one. A dream and a nightmare.

For whatever reason, I, Steve from American Dad, and one of my real life friends were on some humanitarian mission in Syria (UN peacekeepers). Evidently though, the Syrian government and pro-government militia goons started shelling our building. Luckily, the roof opened and a helicopter of Syrian rebels were there to rescue us. We escaped, and we reached Ankara in Turkey, where we were then able to fly safely to Washington DC. At the end of the dream, the ending theme of "Star Wars IV - A New Hope" started playing.

I shit you not.

RE: Everyone's Nightmare, My Dream.

My dreams are usually all happy-sunshine. I did have one where I had a stroke that inhibited half of my body, and I was in rehabilitation. But that was strangely happy and cheerful.

One time I had a dream where on the 4th of july, they rounded up people who went to "patriotic centers" and inspected everyone to see of they were fit to be a part of the master race. That was a few years ago, and my last "nightmare" to date.

I should start a dream journal, so I can remember more of them. They're usually weird and entertaining.

RE: Everyone's Nightmare, My Dream.

I've had a weird sleep schedule lately, probably because I've been getting a max of 4 hours of sleep. I'll take +1 hour long nap and wake up remembering short dreams with little detail. I recently had a dream where I woke up realizing i was dreaming only to wake up again to realize THAT was a dream

Everyone's Nightmare, My Dream.

For example I vividly recall the spider/beetle creatures. Also how one of them tackled a man then plunged all it's legs into him and tore out his rib cage. The dream was pretty gory. It was like Doom, Alien and Starship Troopers coming together.

I also recall being in one person who shut off some machine controlling the hive mind of one specie of aliens(there was a red, blue and green group. The green ones hunted for electronics but killed anyone that got in the way. The red ones killed everything living and the blue ones captured living things to feed on. The green were in the lowest level of the planet in some abandoned science structure connected to the surface, like Resident Evil, while the blue were right above and red directly beneath the surface).

Course I also remember how the person got ripped to shreds upon shutting the machine as it also caused a power blackout on that level, shutting the gates that allowed exit. I was also someone trapped in a corridor while blue aliens crawled around. Strangely enough, before the alien onslaught, there was a gathering for some computer event(like a hacking contest or programming contest). I was there as myself, and interestingly enough built 3 weapons(all orbital "missiles" that would either a)release a burst of energy upon striking surface planet that disintegrated all living matter but left equipment and buildings intact b)released anti-matter that completely annihilated the planet matter or c)cause the planet to fracture and break apart)

Basically by the end of my dream, I got to pick which weapon to use on the alien infested planet(I obviously lived, cause I'm always god-mode in my dreams). And right before I left the planet to choose a weapon(thus=woke up), a single random survivor(whose point of view I also experienced) climbed onto some helicopter-like hovering aircraft and was glad to have made it, when some strange mutant abomination that had blackened skin, a portruding white belly and just plain horrifically ugly jumped out from somewhere and dragged the aircraft down.

I should get working on preparing a story on this!
